Hey whats up all,

So I want to get a new frame for the approaching season Smile But im at a SERIOUS stand-still between choosing a Demo or a Supreme DH and here are the reasons

Now of course I know the demo is race proven, time and time again championship winning bike. I rode a demo last season, and it felt like it was ready to SHRED. I felt like my weight was engineered to sit over the front tire for the most aggressive amount of traction for cornering, I felt well balanced, and it was a good fit.

The conflict however arises with my dislike of the look of the Demo. I dont like the design nor the paint schemes for them (Demo's). With that said, keep in mind I am not trying to take 1st place in any races, Id like a high performance downhill/freeride bike, and importantly one that I REALLY LIKE the looks of (must come from being a car guy).

Ive always like the simple look of the Supreme DH and the paint schemes available for them. I just was hoping to get some opinions from guys that have ridden them. Ever compared them to the cornering characteristics of a Demo or anything? Ive heard they dont feel as "stable" in the air as something more freeride oriented...like the Demo.  This doesnt make sense to me personally though, since DH bike have more slack, they would leave me to believe theyd be more stable but im no expert.

Im only 6' but I have longer legs so I always worry about my knees hitting the bars and not fitting right on a bike, though I havent really had a problem with it so far.

I compete if a few races here and there, I am always trying to stay competitive, but I also do a lot of freeriding. This year I think I want to focus heavily on hitting big whips and throwing the bike around underneath me.

They say Demos tracks really well through the rough stuff? Over here on the east coast we have a LOT of rock gardens around where I live, but...with that said I try to avoid it as much as I can, but do hit them quite often. I just dont find it as fun as fast flowy twisties and flying at berms. Something tells me a Supreme DH, a world class race bike, can handle a few rock gardens and bumps.

Let me know what you guys think.  Sorry for the novel lol but wanted to bring everything up.

Thanks!!

Any opinions would be awesome. Let me know what you guys think.

just changed from an original demo8 to a supreme 8.  (2009 frame, new, 2/3 off at merlin cycles)

eons apart.

supreme is less of a comfort blanket, accelerates better, feels well slack... not hit too many rocks with it.

remember, the supremes get their bottomless single pivot feel from very progressive shock rate, choose yr shock wisely. i run a RC4 with like near no bottom out, minimal high speed comp & 6 clicks of low speed.

demos have the classic neutral true 4 bar ( horst link) FSR suspension. v effective, but I'm now sold on the contact suspension system, the grip under braking with minimal brake jack is amazing... I run 35% sag... and the skippiness of the  supreme and it's launchability make it feel like a next gen bike compared to my admittedly old and heavy demo.

in summery, I'm more engaged with the supreme, it's more fun... and that's what it's  all about for me

btw, I cant understand hoe people think supreme's are heavy... standard kit build ( no carbon) and I'm 36lbs.

chain reaction have a bargain last years frameset for sale i believe.
