Hi, Ive got a bit of play in my 2010 Commencal Supreme DH, and it looks like the linkage is where's moving. It was horrific for a while until I changed bearings, but there is still a few mm of play when I lift the saddle up (up and down, not side to side).
All the new bearings are good, and the bolts are tight, and the con rods are the right length. The main pivot bearing seems fine too, but I think when it is loose, it causes side to side play instead, anyway. I don't think its the shock bushes either. What else could it be? Thanks.

Can't comment on the Supreme but if it was a Meta, with that descriptoin I would be telling you it was the shock bushings.

Cheers, will try changing them then, also is the main pivot bearing sounds really grindy, might it be worn?

Hey dude.

I used to get the exact same movement after a hard riding session. I always found tightening all linkage bolts and all the frame blots holding the swing arm etc would resolve this. Weirdly it was not always the same bolt. It used to alternate between themselves but the one that I found nearly always needed to be done was the bolt situated behind the chain device. Sorry for not being accurate in description I no longer have the frame so going of memory where they are.

Hope this helps.

I thought I had loose linkage or play in bearings, turned out the main pivot had managed to work itself loose, a light grade lock tight and tightened up it was gone, next ride its the back, another linkage bolt worked itself loose.

Yeah, theres lots of play now again but all the linkage bolts are tight. The play is around the main pivot bearing, but both the pivot bolts are tight (the big silver 10mm allen bolt). Are they worn too then? Cheers.
