Has anybody got any experience of cheap pads, I found these http://www.discobrakes.com/?s=0&t=0&c=2&p=85& which are obviously good value (£21 for 4 pairs!) but are they any good?

I don't mind paying extra for the branded pads if they offer better stopping and last longer, but are you just paying for the name.

Thanks.

Personally, I'd always stick with the manufacturers brands.

Have tried EBC and others before and all have sucked balls. Mauufacturers are the way to go.

You pay for the name in my experience.  I've had goodridge pads in the past which cost £15 a go and last no longer and have no more stopping power than the Ashima pads I now use at £3.25 a set.

The XT pads that came with my bike were shocking btw.  No matter how many times I sanded them back they constantly 'glazed' which made steep descents a bit worrying.

goodridge for me all the way too. 3 of my mates have had superstar pads disintegrate after a couple of rides. they seen to separate the pad from the backing. now i'm all for a good deal, but thats not economy.

Not tried them myself though.

i'm using the superstars pads without any problem so far, they wear slightly quicker than the official avid ones for my jucies, but that's a trade off i'm ok with as they're so much cheaper

Thanks for the replies. I've ordered one set to give them a try, and if I'm not wrapped around a tree I'll let you know what they're like!
