Sorry to bring up this old issue folks.

Im looking at buying a 2009 supreme, my dream bike. However, being aware of the issues commencal had with the 2009 metas I thought i'd google 'commencal supreme cracking'. I had never heard of any problems with the supremes but google has now got me worried.

There is a few forums where people are saying that their 09 supremes have cracked, and warning people to stay away from them. Someone even said that things got that bad that commencal redesigned the supreme for 2010 and moved the manufacturing to a different facility.

So I am now here for reassurance. Have any 2009 supreme owners had this happen, if so, where abouts are they cracking?

Or is this just being blown out of proportion as usual?

Ive always had my heart set on a supreme but now im having doubts. I suppose I could go for an older frame but im not overly keen on the older ones. I would play it safe and get a 2010 but I cant afford one.

All/ any advice appreciated..............thanks. Undecided

Don't know your budget mate, but there's a nice 2010 frameset (frame, shock, forks, chain device, bars, stem, seatpost & bearings) for €1500 on the Commencal shop site. That's euros. Worth a look? Got my 2010 supreme frame that way for €799 (frame only). Listed under 'second hand' but never owned stuff. Shop soiled etc.

Hello,

I had a 2009 frame that the rear triangle was not aligned which was replaced under warranty.
While waiting for the frame to arrive, went on a trip to Whistler and broke the linkage. While having the linkage replaced (a million thank you's to Ticket 2 Ride BC for getting me back on the trails so quickly), the mechanic discovered two small cracks on my seat stays. Kept on riding for the rest of the trip and changed the parts over when I got home.
The front triangle is still in perfect shape, the rest has gone in the bin.
From what the mechanic said, they had seen and heard of many problems with 2009, but he felt that everything was corrected for the 2010 frames.
