I believe Ant to be early 20's, though I've never met him.
Not sure why I've formed that opinion.

I got the opinion he was very young for some reason Steve, early 20s he should be able to ride the course then run it with his bike on his back hey hey.I was talking to a bloke up Degla on saturday he races MTB for a club,he did the whole of Degla in 1 hour and 7 mins ,how fast is that, with the new stuff your lucky to get round in under 1.45min and that would be pushing it hard.I would say its a 2 hour to 2.5 hour ride now.

Define what exactly you mean by 'the course' or 'the whole of degla' though. Do you mean red plus the old black DH plus Parallel Universe plus JJ's plus B-Line?

24 mate.

hey hey

Hey Ant,  It's really good to see you've recovered and are enjoying cycling again. Good on you.  Smiley

Cheers bud. First time i've been out properly on the mtb in 6 months (well, other than a pootle around the local woods) Felt great to be honest (apart from the twinges in my spine where the first proper black section started).

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but did a lap of the full black a couple of weeks back and did it about, 1hr 15ish. it's shorter than i remember. http://app.strava.com/rides/5941453 for proof :p

but yeah, it's great to be back on the bike. Racing road this year as my injuries are still prevelent when on the mtb. Going the alps this year on the holiday i missed last year, so looking forward to it!

Hell that's fast. You're recovering well...
How come though, that you're start elevation is 850ft but you're finish elevation is 1033ft?

Probably an issue with temperature and elevation. If the temperature changes, then my garmin throws an elevation wobbler!

Don't forget that's on a 32lb 170mm travel beast. Could have gone faster on the climbs too, but i slowed down a little now and then when i was surveying the countryside.

I've got a new road bike, so going to be riding up to degla every now and then over the summer for a coffee. Nice 80mi ride which incorporates worlds end and horseshoe.
