There is a double page advert in this months MBR for the AM which follows on from a double page "first look" at the new Meta SL.

I was a bit worried about the bit in the AM advert that said something along the lines of "the bike for the rider that likes to go flat out but also the rider that likes to look after their bike"

Implied to me it might be a bit tempremental?  The new rock linkage for the rear suspension looks like it'll need just as much (if not more) love an attention than the current Meta.

Yes part of the reason im not buying one, as well as being over priced. I had a bit of a mare with my Meta 4X creaking even after changing the bearings many times. Had bearing issues with Meta 55 as well. Nice bikes, to much hassle.

Bought an Absolut 4X due to having no linkage to worry about Smiley

The rear end linkages are the same as the V3 and are larger sized.  Mines been spot on since May, I've checked all the linkage bolts after every ride as my normal maintenance routine and they've never loosened and are still as tight as day 1.

There's been no casualties on the 'fleet' of 8 V3's @ T2R in Whistler too and they have had a hard life.

Sounds like they'll be ok as long as you look after them which is what I think the advert is trying to imply.

Like the Meta the rocker linkage on the AM doesn't appear to have been designed with the British winter in mind.
It looks like it'll collect a lot of mud and bit difficult to get full access to it for cleaning.

At least they've sorted the cable routing out for us British folk.

I'd still consider it as my next bike although I suspect it might be a bit too much bike for the riding I generally do.

Cleaning wise, it's all open so dead easy and the photo's haven't really shown the neat detail at the bottom of the main tube, there's an open hole just in front of the BB, so any muck/water just drops out   Smiley

I admit the rear wheel does throw muck straight onto the bottom bearing and shock, but I made a mudguard from an old inner tube and it's sorted.  There is supposed to be a carbon (look!) mud guard that bolts onto the swingarm but I've not ween one yet.
