Creaking linkage
«

I think this has been mentioned before, but my wife has a 08 meta 5 and the linkage creaks like mad. I think I heard someone say it was the axel that runs through the hour glass shaped part of the linkage assembly.
Did anyone come up with a solution to this before she goes mad with the non stop creaking

If you're sure it's the linkage (spray with some lube to see if it stops temporarily) then disassemble & check for seized bearings or scoring.
08 Meta - have the bearings ever been changed?

Yeah its. Definitely in the linkage, if I can remember it can be stopped by adjusting one of the screw on the ens of one of the axel's. But soon returns, spraying lube doesn't seem to make much difference.
The bearings have never been changed, but its done it ever since I bought it in 09, it just does it when you pedal along. On decents it seems to stop.

I can remember seeing a thread where the axle was scored or slightly bent for some reason and that was the cause of the creaking..
Can't find it now though.. :?

The thread is still there somewhere.
The problem was the bearing spacer rubbed where it passed through the hourglass linkage. Solution was to file/sand the high spot of the inside of the linkage, and give the spacer a bit sand/polish to create some clearance.

Ive had/got the same issue but after stripping and replacing the bearings three times now I'm giving up. The rods that passes through the linkage are all clean and no marks. The sound comes and goes, no consistency at all.
Selling the Meta 4X now anyway as ive just built an Absolut 4X and will ride that till next year.
