Need a new bike for Mega Avalanche and a bit of UK downhill. Currently have a Supernormal for XC and a little Absolut for messing about on.

I 'know' I should just get a MiniDH, but I've had a Supreme before and kinda fancy something different. But most people I speak to say the Furious isn't right for DH and Mega due to the geometry being more bike park orientated.

So should I follow my head and get the arguably more suitable bike in the MiniDH... or get the Furious for a change?

Thoughts?

Cheers

I'm after getting a Furious and am going to bring it to the Mega. Lash on a set of coil Totems and it'd be a grand bike (hopefully). Triple crowns would kill it a bit I'd say.

Am just finishing off building it this week so she'll have her maiden voyage this weekend. Will let you know how it pedals, handles etc next week if that's any good to you?

Not sure really. I'm not sure if the geo would be right for it.
I'm going to be running either a heavy build meta 5 or a mini Dh, will be taking both and see which one feels the best on the course when i am pre riding it

Thanks guys. Will be good to see how your Furious works out.

A mate is taking his Meta5 and Supreme along, planning to do sprint on Supreme and race on Meta.

I'm going purely for a giggle, so would rather go bigger travel than less. I'd get a Meta666 if it was purely for Mega, but want something for the UK as well.

I'll let you know how well a Furious handles the Mega in a few months  Smiley

The Furious isn't a DH bike, but it's still more than capable of it.

I hate to pigeon hole things, but it is pretty much a freeride bike. It's built for people who like to go slow and big, rather than fast and low. Plus it handles nicely on shore.

Another bonus for the Furious would be I could sell my Absolut and take the Furious jumping/4X I think. I hardly ever ride the Absolut as it is Sad and living in an apartment means space is tight!

Yeah... thats another possibility, but I'd replace the Supernormal with a 666. Problem is I just ADORE my Supernormal. I had a Meta5.5 for a day in CwmCarn and loved it.

Also, the 666 would be perfect if I was going to race Mega, but I'm just going for a laugh. So I'd rather have something I could thrash the nuts off day in day out on the DHs in France, but be light enough to do the main Mega. So smallish single chainring, flat pedals, DH wheels etc.

Bleh... Commencal just make tooo many bikes that I want to own and just don't have the space for more than 2 (3 at a push). Otherwise I'd have a SupremeDH, Furious, 666, Supernormal, Absolut, Meta4X.... lol

Pfft. You big gayer.

Asking me whether Baby Blue would be cool...

Furious - until you ride one in the conditions of which you wish to ride it mostly, it could be an expensive mistake at full price.

However, having said that, angles can be raised, but I think you'll be trying to change something that will never be ideal for Mega.

Supreme with lightened kit, or a heavy build Meta - or 666 would be ideal.

My penneth worth, but then you already know that Cheesy
