Im in the mood for some new brakes  Angry more expense!

I currently have Hope Tech 4's on my Meta 6 but thinking of getting something new - More powerful?

I like:

Formula The One 2010 - Raved about but not cheap lol

Shimano Saint

Hope V2's But would have to be the Special Edition Black n Green! (Look Beautiful)

Whats stopping you these days?
And what would be your choice of brake???

Hardtail still has an original Mono M4, and Mono Mini, rocking 180 and 160 discs.
Furious has the boat anchors that are Moto V2s.

I'd probably go for Hope Tech M4s if I was going for new brakes, as I like knowing spares are easily availble if they're needed.

Only found out this the other day,

But if you google formula brakes and go to thier home page, select european site, then go to store/offers and you can buy direct from them with all the hardwear for much cheaper..

I bought a pair of bianco brakes for £130. and it comes with all the discs, adapters and spare bits incase you change the hose.

Oh and free stickers and a little formula note pad and pen

They sell the one's and mega's, loads of k24's

Just gotta keep checking when they have the particular one you want in stock

CHECK THE HOSE LENGTH THOUGH!!!

I have Hope Tech M4 on the Meta 6 and I'm not impressed by them, never felt good enough. I went on a cube demo ride with work mon/tues and got to play on the Hanzz, that had the Saint brakes on it. Amazing! Well once you get use to them, initially wasnt impressed, felt like they were either on or off but once you got use to them  Shocked

Think I'll grab some for my 6.

Im proper impressed with my Avid Elixer R's at the moment, i know they are at the mid point pricewise but i was massively impressed, im above ave weight (94kg) and my bike is a 38lb supreme and the brakes have no probs stopping me when i hit up fort bill etc and i only do 1 finger braking.
Im currentlt running them with 203mm front and 180mm rear discs, but will be upping the rear to a 203mm and swapping out the hoses for braided ones (i was going to punt for a set of the superstars but after having read the thread on here about them i will go for goodridge ones and play it safe)

Cool, check fibrax website, cheap! I got full set of braided gear cables with inners for about £11, braided brake hoses all over there site and fibrax always seem to pick up good reviews!! Plus I ordered at 2pm and they were in my letter box at 8am the next morning

I have Elixir CRs on my reign. the 8" on the front and the 7" on the rear really are a winning combo. Loads of power, and lots of modulation.

I have Elixir R's with 8" Superstar rotors F+R and Red Kevlar pads.. Tons of power, and I only use them with one finger.. I really like the Saint brakes too..

On-one are doing the Elixir CR's for £90 each at the moment..

Think im going to go for the Goodridge ones, Fibrax only do them in silver which i dont want as nowt on my bike is silver, gonna get either the black or carbon ones, just not sure which, the black will go better but will just look standard  Undecided  where the carbon wont go quite as well but is only a subtle diff but they will at least look upgraded, and seeing as they are gonna cost me 64bucks i want them to at least appear visually slightly better, obv the importance is the performance but asthetics do play a part in todays world  Tongue

SAINT! With Green goodridge hoses and 200mm XTR Discs. i weigh 100kg with gear and they are VERY powerfull. Have even considered down sizing to 180mm discs. Get some you wont be disappointed.

I am using Formula The One with 180mm rotors (f & r). I weight just over 100kg plus kit, have ridden the Alps, Whistler and a few other places and have had no troubles. They are light, expensive and work great. A friend of mine is using Saints and raves about them. He is about 60kg plus gear, so I think anything will work for him.
If you go with Bong's logic, the Saints will not be a good choice as they are huge and not very nice looking. Formula brakes are very small compared to them and much better looking!
