POC - your experiences
«

I have recently updated all my body armor to POC. Not cheap I can tell you.
Unfortunately I have had nothing but problems. Knee pads were split with loose stitching, had to be sent back. Elbow pads I've ordered three times all from different retailers. All have had to be sent back with the same problem. It seems there quality control and production of these products is poor to say the least.
I have emailed POC direct and it seems the UK distributor is aware of these issues, as he says that each week pads are being sent back in large quantities.
POC seem to talk the talk but from my experiences they haven't got the basics right.
Has anyone else experienced these issues?
Cheers

Stitching came away from my knee/shins, but i've kept using them. It's only the logo that has come off.
Then again, they are super comfy, and much nicer than anything else i've ever used.

I have a set of the soft elbow guards, the ones that have the similar tech to 661's d3 and they at 1st were great, nice and comfy but they just will not stay up now, even with the strap done up fairly tight and the rubber strip inside them thats supposed to stop em slipping down they just will not sit right, i guess they just aint the right fit for my arms which is a pain cos they aint old, only been used a handful of times and are in mint condition ...oh and cost a LOT!!
Anyone fancy buting them off me and see of they have better luck?? make me an offer.

Cheers for the response. It seems you suffered the same problems as me. I too would keep them but I'm determined to get a pair that have no defects. After all they cost so much you would expect the quality to be higher. Anyway I'm about to order a replacement pair, if these are faulty then I give up! POC don't seem to live up to the hype.

They also seem to have odd sizing. The large knee pads I ordered just about fit over my calf muscles and I have pipe cleaner legs, there's no way someone of a heavy build would get them over there ankles.

I have the VPD knee pads, they havent fallen apart yet but they dont stay up. Either my legs have got smaller or they have stretched.
Super coumfy and they do work when needed.

My POC have been nothing but excellent!
They have not fallen apart and don't look like they will any time soon, i have the 2010 ones (difference in sizes i believe having worked in a shop with them) When i think about it, they may have stretched very slightly but apart from that they have been GREAT, best pads i've ever had and would recommend them normally!
They did originally have very odd sizing when they first introduced them around 2009, but that was meant to have been fixed to an extent for 2010, and mine are fine size wise (im probs in between a m/l)
They are far better than kyle straits which mine just kept coming off my knee in crashes despite a perfect fit (small) You can see the consequences of this if you look for Matti Lehikoinen's crash on the Ft Bill cheese grater.

Thanks everyone for there feedback
I heard from the POC design manager yesterday regarding my complaint. They acknowledged there are stitching issues with some of this years knee and elbow pads, but the fault will be put right for next year.
Plus I've just been sent some FREE joint knee and elbow pads!!!
Now thats customer service for you :-)

I made the switch from TLD to POC. Huge mistake the POC pads came apart without a fall. Troy Lee is by far the best if you are looking to walk away after huge get offs.

I've got the Spine tee and the joint elbows.
The spine tee is amazing, the vpd spine board feels less restrictive than wearing a camelback! Love it! Only downside is the white colour which is impossible to keep clean on a muddy hill. I've tried 661 and dainese body armour before but they're not a patch on the POC, I've had it a year and have had no problem's with it.
Joint elbows are much better than my old dainese pads for staying in place and a lot more comfortable once I'd cut the labels out! but I still don't like wearing elbow pads much, just feel better riding without them.
