Am I been taken piss out of, I bought a meta 55 and was well pleased with it till two weeks ago,was up the the woods when I developed a problem with sram x9 managed to sort it for the day,it was due its six week first service,so when it went in i said to the store assistant about it, I got a first call telling me a spring had broken and needed to be sent off for warranty,I then had a second call that I missed and a message saying that it was a recall and a faulty sping (not broken??) called back today to make sure I'd have the beast back for the weekend and now I'm been told that the mech is at fishers and the x9 is on back order, why not send back to sram,Now going to miss the trip we had planed this weekend.I'm a motor mechanic and i think its the same as somone bringing in a saab with a warranty problem and I send it to vauxhall?Huh? Not happy. Is anyone else having problems with this mech or is it just me been played for a mug. Gutted...expected better service with it been a high end bike.please advise. Sad

well it's the people you sent it back to who are your issue, not Commencal.

Sounds like they're the ones messing you about.

Remember... your contract is with the people who sold YOU the bike... not the people they bought it from.

The bike is fine its the rear mech that's the problem. Just trying to work out if anyone else is having the same problems.

eh are Fishers not the UK distributers for Sram?
Im sure they could have sent it back to Sram directly but you would be waiting alot longer for it to come back from overseas rather than being dealt with in the same country Smiley
A fairer comparison would be you sending the car back to Toyota in Japan rather than Toyota UK I'm sure you can see that would be far more inconvienient
However Im sure the shop must have a replacement rear mech they could fit in the meantime - speak to them and request that is done

Let me guess though, is the shop Evans by any chance?

no its understandable you would be miffed and they should really have explained better
Evans website is showing all types of x9 rear derailler in stock, either at their warehouse or in store
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/sram/x9-rear-derailleur-ec019686?query=sram x9

It would seem simple to me, as its a recognised warranty failure and subject to a recall they should fit one from their stock to get you back on the bike and then replace their stock with your replacement from Fishers
I would be suggesting this to them if it was me

I can't find anything about an official Sram recall for X9 but it would seem there is a familar problem. These may/may not be of use - http://www.bikemagic.com/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/94655/V/6/last/1/SP/

Explain to them that you've paid for a weekend out on the bike, and you need a working bike.  Whether they give you free usage of a demo bike that they have, or put on a temporary mech.

That's what i'd expect from a lbs.

I had allsorts of warranty issues with my Sram running gear on my 09 Giant Reign, Fishers were excellent with replacing the parts & my LBS fitted stock items & replenished when replacements arrive. Suppose thats the difference between a LBS & a national chain such as Evans

Based upon my cracked Super 4 frames, both replaced by Evans, i totally disagree.
