Now that I've finally fixed all the major errors in the original edit, here is the video I done for the IMBA UK conference a few weeks ago, which showcases some of the trails that have been hand built by the Glentress Trailfairies.

It's a good vid mate seen it a fw days ago on the 7stanes blog, i kind of wish i lived closer to glentress so i could lend a hand as I quite enjoy trail bulding myself.

This maybe be a bit of stupid question but why have certain sections at glentress never been marked on the map or even marked at Andy's flume, penels venel black, zoom or bust(offically open yet?) ect?

Mostly because they were never built as official waymarked trails.

Andy's Flume, Original race link/Lady's flume (it's never been called pennels vennel black!), ZoB are all race links/trails, and aren't part of any official loop, other than the XC race loop. But that requires certain trails to be taped of to complete the loop (i.e. pennels vennel gets ridden backwards for races), so they've never been added to the publically available maps.

I never hear anyone talk about it so i had to come up with a name to describe it and since i reckon its harder than the normal route I just called it the pennels vennel black Tongue

Thanks for the answer mate its something ive wondered about for awhile.

are u mad? GT is the perfect venue for ure meta, remember those trails showen in that vid by mc are just the ones the trailfairies have built(the volunteer group, not the full time trail crew) so they are just a fraction of wht gt has to offer and also some of those trails you wouldnt get to ride unless u had a local with u to show u where they were  Wink  Wink

done it on both
more fun on meta but far easier on climbs on HT
i reckon a long travel HT best, if my 120 forks get sorted in time I may take the HT (I know 120 isnt long travel but should be batter than 100mm flexy Sids)

lol i knew you'd bite on that one MC  Wink  of course the freeride is best suited to a dj hardtail but if we are being honest if the riders are a bit apprehensive and inexperienced for hitting jumps and drops (which i mean no offense here at all guys, but some of u seem to be) then a bike with some bounce will do them best as it will be far more forgiving, anyhows the freeride is beat up to f**k these days again and the dj bikes are bloody hard work there, especially so on the lower jumps just after the rock garden (i still have no idea why the fook that is there, the route would ride so much smoother without it and its a real chore to do on a ss dj bike with rock hard forks, even more so in the wet with street tyres )
