Warranty Claim - A Good News Story
«

Have seen and heard a few horror stories about warranty claims so thought I'd share a happier one.
I can't fault EBC (Leeds) or Madison for the handling of my snapped 2009 Super 4.2 frame. Less than 4 weeks after taking it to the shop, I'm now armed with a 2010 Super 4 Team and ready to roll - lets hope it lasts longer than 8 months this time!! Are the 2010 frames more durable?
Only downisde is the black forks on the white frame - how easy is it to spray them white without removing them?

I bought the Meta 5 Vip frame with full xt-parts from Merlin. I live in Finland and the frame is here. When i noticed the crack i asked Commencal how to act. I did as they told. I contacted Merlin and sent photos of crack. Five weeks ago Merlin has made warranty claim at least they said so. Today I have send e-mail to Madison about the matter.

Currently im not a huge fan of merlin, as it stands im in the process of taking them to court, not regarding a frame tho, but other parts.

"Its long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll " (AC / DC)
"Its long way to the get warranty replacement if you have a cracked Commecal frame" (Kuntoilija) In my black book is now new thing, which I will never ever buy again a Andorran bike. Today I have waited 8 weeks and havent got any anwser to e-mails, which
I have sent to Madison and Commencal concerning my warrenty claim. Those hardly know word customer service. Tomorrow I have
to ask again from Merlin about the matter. I don't understand why it takes so long to handle this warranty case, because Commancal knows, that their 2009 Meta frames are totally shit quality. I believe, that there are only few 2009 Meta frames, that are still running.
Well, one thing is sure, I will be great spokesman for Commencal bikes

Read the forum. Your issue is not with Madison or Commencal, it's with Merlin. Merlin might tell you it's Madison or Commencal causing the issue but read between the lines.

Well, long wait is finally over (three months ), because I got today my warranty replacement frame, which is 2011 Meta 5 Team. It is better looking in flesh than pictures, but not as nice as 2009 and 2010 frames. Hopefully it will last better than 2009 frame.

Just wondering..
You know the bits that get replaced on warranty, do they come with a seperate warranty themselves?

no, the replaced frame comes with the original warranty from the purchase. ie. if your frame breaks 14months into your ownership you will only have 10 months warranty left on the replacement frame.

that's not too good for those who get a warranty replacement a week before the warranty is up, and it fails again a few months later.

There certainly seems to be a lot of stories of cracked '09 frames so I'll be keeping an eye on mine.
Is there a 24 month warranty from purchase date?
