Just a collective "hello" to all, and a quick introduction of myself.

First let me just say this is such a cool consept for bike owners, I feel I'm part of something... or will be once my Commencal turns up.

I'm a rider, I can't help it, it's in my blood. I have tried to quit, but found out my riding defines me and makes me a better person, so why quit?
(Cos we need a new bathroom: my wife, who doesn't want a devorce... Wink )

So I get myself a new dh bike every year and work my nuts off to afford one.

I live in Norway, but am British. The riding here is great, so great in fact that I think everyone should experience it.
So I run Freeride Norway ( www.freeridenorway.com ) and help people get in touch with the rider within.

I also run a small bike shop that travels to the races and events to help riders where they need help.
And thus my knowledge of bikes is used. What i don't know I try and find out.

I have worked with bikes for 12 years now, at Rock Shox/Specialized Norway, Maxxis/Formula Norway, sold Kona's (which means wife here), Giant and designed DBS, I write and run a freeride mag called Hucker ( www.hucker-mag.com ) and now have managed to be voted in as dh responsable in the Norwegian Cycling federation.

And now I start plagueing you guys.

Oh yeah I have a lot of freetime on my hands!

youre doing a lot, respect that! And congrats for the votings!
I'm also a bit jealous, like mentioned on another thread my wish is to move to Norway for some perioid of time some day, and I'm really serious. and by the way, even though I don't know norwegian, knowing a little swedish I could understand what you said about your "dame" and all. I'll try and see the mag if it makes any sence...

Rufus is absolutely right. The riding here is just fantastic. Ever going to Oslo (the capitol)? Bring your bike! The mountainbike community here, at least in Oslo, is very big and very friendly. You'll allways find someone to ride with, and every time there are someone that knows a new trail and a new route. Want to go downhill on your Supreme? No problem, we'll take the tram back to the top, or even the ski lift. Want to try some exiting trails on your Meta and experience the beautiful nature out in the woods? No problem, the trails are endless - it would be possible to ride every day all summer and not ride the same trail twice!

Hey Tron(d?)!

I lived in Oslo for 6 years, only moved last easter to Kragerĝ.
I used to run the FFF (Frognerseteren Freeride Festival), we once got two hundred freeriders to ride/jump/huck down the steps in front of the kings palace... I'll try and find the film.

Maybe you've heard of the festival?
I used to work at Bikes and Boards in Grünelĝkka.

The biking comunity is great in Oslo, especially riding all day at Frognerseteren, (tram/underground/subway to the top, ride down some of the way, tram/etc up again) and when you're finished riding at Frognerseteren, freeride down to the centre of town drink beer and look at the stunning Norwegian ladies (obviously I don't do this I am married to one).

A new Hucker is coming out soon, and later this year an eeengleeesh version, me thinks.

Maybe we should invite Commencal owners to a weekend at Hafjell this summer... and Oslo and Drammen.
The guy who is leading the Norwegian cup DH rides one... like Cedric's I'm thinking.

Oh yeah and I've raced dh since 97

Here's some films from Oslo.

http://tallak.no/ and click on where it says Video, and then the FFF films...

the one marked fff 104 is from the first FFF in 2004, where we rode the palace stairs, the guards didn't know what to think. They have live loaded rifles too. We got out of there pretty quick too.
But it a usual part of riding in Oslo to do the stairs... but we don't usually have 199 of our closest friends with us... Smiley

PS this was the first freeride event that Trond Hansen (Specialized) won... good memories!

Hey Rufus - no, I'm Tron without the d.
I've seen the film from the steps in front of the kings castle, very cool.

I'm more of a trail rider than a freerider. I've been riding since the early 90's, and just picked up on the freeride thing last summer when I bought a used Supreme FR frame from Twin on the forum here. Actually I got the shock and forks from the Commencal downhiller you are talking about (Espen Johnsen). Hafjell is just great, and I had lots of fun riding up there last summer.

People curious about how the riding in Norway is should check out Trond's (with the d, another guy from the MTB community in Oslo) thread with riding pics from Norway at Ridemonkey. It's been going on for years - lots of pics: http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80811

Here's a pic from one of the trails in Oslo (Vettakollen) - the city in the background. The bike has been replaced by a Meta 55 VIP (however not built yet):

Here's one of me doing my first drop at Frognerseteren last summer:

Me at my favorite trail in Lillomarka last summer:

My mate Stian on a Supreme Mini DH at Hafjell last summer:

A guy called Anders in Drammen on a Meta 5:

I could go on posting pics forever....

More Commencal riders from Norway, both taken at Hafjell (www.hafjell.com):

This is my friend Richard with his caracteristic Tomac style riding ;-)

Here's Espen Johnsen, best downhiller in Norway:
