Afternoon all?

Even though feeling like crap at the mo, the mission is to try and get out on Sat for a spin.

Mates mentioned Degla, but been 3 or 4 times this year and was thinking with an ever earlier start that Coed y Brenin could be had even though it's just over 3hrs for me  Sad

Is Dragon's Back the best there, my other mates reckon it is and I'm not sure if the Beast is worth the extra 7 or so KM when in a bit of a rush!!

Was also thinkin could do AE in about the sameish time, any other places will happily consider....

Done Dalby, Lee Quarry, Crag Q, Gisburn,  and Whinlatter recently ish and fancy a new place.... would love to do Dalbeattie / Kirroughtree again, but in a day there is no chance !!!

MBR in the morning, stop for lunch at the cafe, then Tarw in the afternoon.

Or the other way round

The extra riding in the beast is just fire road climbing - where's the fun in that? MBR & Tarw are the ones.

Try Penmachno if you're over that way....Ae XC is not too much fun, but the shredder and Omega man are good to spend the day sessioning (if that's your thing).

Dalbeattie probably about as far as Ae (which I found really boring and not at all flowy and ended up giving up half way round)
If you head that way what about Mabie?
You could always be brave and try non trail centre - Peaks

Cheers all.... hmmm could be drawn to MBR & Tawr by the sounds of it....

Dalbeattie didn't have as much flow, but enjoyed some of the black bits and skinnies !!!

I was thinking trail centre after all this bloody rain would be a bit better altho still got the two downhills in the peak to do when it dries up!!

Not done Mabie..... not looking forward to getting up at 6am.....

Cheers for comments so far, will hopefully get some decent footage on the new cam...

If you do the beast at CYB you can cut a big chunk (5km) of fireroad by carrying on up the steep road climb after the cafe and taking the fireroad which goes off to the right. This drops you on to the Adams family sections. CYBis definately worth a visit lots of lovely flowy sections.
The vote for Penmachno is a good one too, it's an awesome trail. The trailbuilders have used the topography of the land in the best way possible. Do both loops if you choose Penmachno.

Can't go wrong with either tbh.

Evening all, thanks for all the info.....

Did the Dragons back and erm..... was a bit disappointed in a way to be honest!!

Think it must have been all the hype of trying to get there etc, but I found the fire trails a pain in the arse...I dont mind them to go up on as a necessary evil; however the long stretch to the cafe could have taken in so much flat and bits of down. Did the short cut and got lost, so effectively did a long cut.

However.....

The descents, especially the big run starting with Gomez etc are fooooking awesome and made a real good challenge in the wet.... last run beginning of the end was good too, but too short, last bits in car park were v good and technical too.... oh and much love to the cafe halfway round and all the folk we met and had good banter with!!

I don't think I'll rush back as it's a long way, but would do MBR next time I reckon... then again the video footage I got makes me realise how much bloody fun it was!!!

Thanks again y'all
