Here is CG's new DH ride for the 08 season. First pics too!

Instead of lots of waffle from me, read on for a big pic of the machine and the inside track on the bike from my Commencal spy.....

This is CG's new frame for the 2008 DH season, and is an evolution of the prototype run last year, itself an evolution of his 2006 bike.  Here are just a few of many changes made to his bike, compared with the 2008 production version of the Supreme DH:

- a lower shock mount to increase saddle height adjustment, and lower the centre of gravity
- a wider 83mm BB to increase rigidity (compared to 68mm for the 2008 production bike)
- 200mm of front and rear travel, with a 240mm x 76.5mm shock
- ISCG 05 chainguide mounts (compared to ISCG for the 2008 production bike)
- the possibility to adjust the braking balance of the bike via the rear disc brake mount (not visible in the photos)

The components on the bike are last years stuff, so we'll have to wait a bit longer to see what the final ride will look like.  Oh, and C-Dog has his own custom frame geometry, of course...

You saw it here first folks ;-)

Nice, but braking balance? I thought you adjusted it by pulling harder on one lever compared to the other?

Excellent! Loved this!
It does sound like marketing bolx, something on the new Hyudwoo 6x6 Super SUV for housewifes only!

But I'm guessing it has something to do with brake jacking... Kona Stab's have a system to make the rear end dive under braking to match the front end dive (under braking)... but they do that with a floating brake set up... maybe that'll come on the final models?

I find theres a far easier option, which is not to use the rear brake. I used to have just a 160mm mono mini on my vp free which worked fine in the alps. The people who seem to worry about brake jack tend to be those squealing down the hill at 1mph.

Disagree with the comment about it being not a sexy bike. sweet clean lines. compared to say cubes or others (m6 just looks wrong)

Its not a patch on the old supreme with the curved top tube and details.

Its just a very plain and ordinary frame.

Maybe that because the old supreme just looked so good.

Does anyone have a link to pic/spec of the "old supreme"? Not familiar with all the Commie history yet, so would like to have a butcher's at what you all think is a "sexy bike"!!!

Cheers

must add that those colors are style! old meta too, well those're all i've seen, but from my point of view design is going backwards in time.
this new frame on the other hand is a beauty! simple is beautiful and less is more, small things make matter when talk about style Wink

So many bikes have a bent down tube these days, Kona, Spesh, Norco, Santa C... and I think they all look fat. I hate to think I'm getting old fashioned, but I like a straight down tube and a sloping top tube. It just looks sleeker and faster.

Yeah I know the hydro forming is lighter and stronger, but lets not go overboard with it.

A big part of riding fast is having a bike that inspires you to ride fast. It's not all to do with geometri or linkages, Steve Peat seemed to ride ok on a single pivot machine.

Bright colours are back after a brief stint of military colours, and we buy or want new bikes all the time, especially the ones that catch our eye.

I wanted a white bike, untill I saw the lovely green Superteam, now I know it's gonna be faster than my old orange/white/blue Kona, not just because of it being almost 2 kg lighter, but cos it's gonna be different for me... and greener...

I used to like the demo's (spesh), but they just look so heavy now, no matter what colour.

Rant off.

Ps I liked the comment about slow riders being affected by brake jack... but they also wear out the trails, less brake jack with slow riders = less stutter bumps... (good for Kona riders then)
