recently did llandegla on my meta 5.5.3 had problems on the first black as its very rough and rocky my chain jumped on to the granny with the front derailure still on middle position this happened a few times during the session not sure how to solve this, thought about ditching the big ring using a bash guard and chain device maybe ! any thoughts on this would be good.

not heard of any 3 ring guides , a option could be a dual ring chain guide...like below... first make sure your chain is not to big e.g Slack remember to check it in the biggest loop formats before taking links out cos i never made that mistake  Roll Eyes

thats what i meant when i said ditch the big ring and replace with bash guard did you have the same problem then.

yes and no.. actually on a 2ring set up... combination of chain to long and poorly fitted guide... all sorted now and cant think that my chain has ever come off since ... touch wood......

chain skipping can be avoided by putting your gear on the bigger plates when you're travelling downhill on rough paths.. i do it all the time and avoided the problem entirely
