Adding to the collection...

Hi people,
My work have just announced they will soon be running a bike to work scheme through Cycle Scheme, so I figure its time to add another bike.
At the moment I have a Meta 5, and I am thinking of adding a hardtail. My first thought was another Commie. So I was thinking Ramones 1.
Question is.... Do you think that the Meta and the Ramones are too similar? Would I find myself riding one and not the other?
My thinking was set the Ramones up as a play bike (ie 1x9, fast rolling tyres) and keep the Meta as a long distance/trail warrior.
Thoughts?

A hard tail and a 5 inch travel full suspension similar?
No wonder you havn't had any replies
I've got a combi disc and I totally love it. It's brilliant just for a bit of fun straight from your front door. On the other hand, why don't you go the other way, and get a big, burly weapon of mass destruction for the DH scene

Get the Ramones, I thought my play hardtail was similar to my Meta to ride, so I sold it, now I miss it.
I fancy a Ramones cro-mo, steel is the way to go for a hardcore hardtail.

What other makes does the lbs stock?
Commencal now are overpriced and under-specced.
You could get a better equipped machine for less money than commies..

I am thinking (shock horror) an Orange Crush. Doesn't have to be LBS, the scheme allows us to buy from any approved dealer.
Ramones steely does sound appealing...
Okay, so another swing on it would be, what play hardtail for under £1000? I don't want a cross country bike.

if your company are progressive enough to allow you to get your bike from anywhere (unlike mine who insist they can only deal with halfords) you should be able to get, more or less, what you want. most places will allow you to go above the £1000.00 with you making 'private' arrangements to fund the excess cost. i'd certainly have a look at the orange (top bikes!!), kona or felt as my mate got one on the scheme last year & its held up well enough. what about having a look at 'last years model' & you might find a decent bargain of a bike reduced down to a grand...

Crush is a good choice. Orange bikes are great, I'd happily have an Orange if I could afford one, and not be a big loser Commençal owner.

Get your LBS to custom build a DMR Trailstar LT or Ex[alt].

A hardtail would be a good addition and would help you develop your line choices much better to allow you to ride the full sus faster and on more technical trails.

Spoke to SunsetMTB and they said they would happily let me pay the extra £100 for a 2010 Crush, a good deal that I won't beat I expect. As soon as the scheme goes live I will be back on the phone to them.
Riding the full sus faster? That would be nice, but the only thing holding me back at the moment is my legs, will a hardtail help them too??
I am hoping the 2 Dirt School days I have booked will help in the skills dept, oh no, I just thought, which bike do I take!!
