I wouldnt go too low on the rise of the bars, this whole flat bars caper is just gay if you ask me!!! the ideal rise is 20-30mm . Im getting a set of Funn fat boy bars in 30mm rise and 750 wide, nice bars and good weight for dh/freeride bars.
Also a tyre worth considering is the new Minion exo, its 2.5 wide and is a single ply tyre with a special extra weave through it to allow extra protection without going the dual ply route, im getting 2 of the front ones (i run a front up back too, much better grip when pinning it through the corners)  for my supreme, they are effectively 1.5 ply tyres but only weigh in at 845g for the 2.5 wide ones. it think the compound on them is only 60a but i find no real need for my super tacky ones, the rolling resistance is far too much, i would gladly sacrifice the slight loss of grip for the much easier rollling resistance, anyways drifting and getting squirrly is fun  Grin

Don't they use triple compound?

Edit: ok I've searched a little:
Quote
It’s available both as a single compound 60 durometer version and a triple compound model.  The triple gets a 70 duro base layer for solid rolling resistance, which creeps up into the base of the knobs, with 60 center knobs and super soft 50 side knobs.

I was given some Panaracer CG 2.35 4X-AM last night to test, so bolted them onto the 5 and hit the surrey hills, they are nice! Just felt so confident everywhere, was very dusty, lose and some places deep in dust, was like a powder day.

Thats for the info/input guys. Keep it coming.

Should have some money to spend on it soon.

As for brakes, I'm thinking of the hope tech m4, 203mm floating with braided lines F+R. what mounts would I need?

I would go with some Formula RX Brakes with 203 rotors, Raceface Atlas Bars in GREEN, Thomson X4 50mm stem, Saint drivetrain with single ring up front with E 13 LG1+ guide. Also i know you like your wheels but i would swap for tubeless wheels such as Hope Pro 2 Hubs with Mavic 819 UST rims which are bomb proof.

Also get a spare fox seal and take the one out of your Joplin as the fox seal is much better and dont forget to put in a foam seal with it as the Joplin seal is garbage!

Lovely bike  Wink

P.S Bong - Flat bars are where its at boy!  Cool

Raceface Atlas are the wrong green  Embarrassed shame they didnt do a white.

Already got that stem, it came with the frame, the tubeless debate, still not convinced on them. But agree on the saint drivetrain, single ring and LG1  Cool

The reason for the hope is I get a better discount from them than I would on the formula stuff  Wink

So the fox seal fits the Joplin? might be worth selling the joplin and just getting the fox one then.

You can pick up a fox seal for about £10 if you buy a spares pack. Just remove the Joplin seal and fit the rubber seal into the top cap with the foam washer beneath and it seals loads better.

I have run tubeless for years and it is ace. Perfect if you want to race the Mega as well.

Not really ever got on with Hope brakes and my Formula RX are ace although i used to run the new saint brakes on my Reign X which were awesome!

Well selling the 5 to fund this, so was going to buy 2 sets of rims, some XC type ish for riding the surrey hills and then something a bit more hardcore for shredding the gnar. so may look into the ones you suggested.  Cool

Will the brake levers touch the top tube with that low riser?

Not sure but I havent cut the forks yet so can run spacers if needed.

Leavers still havent been delivered. Only parts I'm waiting for are what I ordered direct from hope.
