Unlucky on the crash and injury, sounds like a nasty one!

I'm just recovering from an emergency ileostomy which required a 10" wound with 33 staples from just above my manhood up to where the two sides of my ribs join in the middle.  I've been back out on my bike a few times now the first of which was about a month after the operation so hopefully you won't be rested up for too long.  The body is amazing in how quickly it can recover from major trauma.

What a nice thing to get home to!  I guess Greg knows what it's like to be frustrated and not be able to ride due to injury.

I wouldn't know as I had to have all my large intestine removed so have a bag now instead.  I was lucky in that for the first 5 days I still had an epidural in to prevent me feeling any of the pain going on where all the trauma was.  I certainly felt it when the took me off it, but can't imagine how much your abs would hurt straight after having been stitched back together.

My road to recovery is going to be quite a long one unfortunately as the reason for the large intestine removal was due to it being blocked by a cancerous tumour so I've got 6 months of chemo starting on wednesday ahead of me.  Not what I expected at the age of 27!

Cheers, I was lucky as they caught it early so it hadn't spread beyond the bowl, so hopefully the chemo is just a mop up of anything that made it into the blood stream.

Good luck for your recovery too.  It's such a great feeling getting back out on the bike after forced time off it.  Even a gentle ride round easy trails feels so nice!
