had two attempted break ins on my garage over the last two weeks pretty sure they were after the bikes first attempt they didnt get in with a large screwdriver second attempt they woke me at 3am with pry bars and i chased them off down the street naked with golf club in my hand.
ive had to beef up my garage security which has cost me around £200 so far.most insurance company,s wont insure bikes in detached garages.its now kept in the house.

I got my house insurance through endsleigh as my bikes are kept in a council owned garage that I rent which is about 100m from my flat.  It only covers up to £2000 worth of contents though.  The premium including all the rest of my standard house contents insurance is about £70 a year Smiley

Some ideas for Security.
1. Garage wired to your house alarm. Not got one? consider it.
2. Alternative to the above.
Some personal attack alarms wired to the frame with fishing line.  When they pull the frames they pull the pins out of the alarms.
All you have to do is remember it yourself... Embarrassed
3. A decent wall / ground anchor plus chain (at least 13mm) and lock like the ones from here
4. If your garage has one of those aluminium up'n'over type doors with an internal lip drill several 10mm holes (say 2 bottom & one each side) through the lip and right into the frame and ground.  Drop some thick steel tent pegs in.  Of course, you're gonna need another exit...

Glad to see the padlock I use for the additional footplate on my garage is one of the squire ones they recommend Smiley  Means when i buy a place and use it with a ground anchor I'll still be secure.  Shame the easiest way into my garage is cutting a hole in the thin metal door or going in through the corrugated roof!

You play golf?  That is a very frank and forthright admission mate and it is the first step on your long road to recovery...good luck pal.

I now keep my mini dh down at my office,so if any little muppets want to steal it from there they will have cctv, and guard dogs to contend with, but if on the slim chance they do succeed we have insurance covering upto about 1million there so i wont get short changed  Grin . My other lesser valued play bikes get kept in my fort knox of a shed, good luck to the muppets there too haha  Wink  but at this venue they would also have me running very fast after them with a very sharp sword   Grin  (to any policemen reading this its a an ornament/letter opener honest  Wink  Tongue   )
