Hello,

I'm returning to mountain biking after a decade away and am after a long travel hardtail. The Ramones 2 looks right up my street. I've been on the Commie website and am au fait with the tech specs, but the internet's collective mountain bike web forums seem to contain no Ramones 2 owners!

I figured this was my best hope, so before I drop a couple of months rent on one of these bad boys I thought I'd ask whether any of you guys own one, have tested one, live with someone whose dentist's receptionist's live-in lover stole one, etc etc

What's the ride like? Am conscious of the fact that it's said to be pretty rigid, but then all hardcore hardtails are. What's the weight like? Bike Radar gave it two and a half stars in their review, but I take those reviews with a pinch of salt. What's it like on climbs?

Ideally, I'd like it to be my do everything bike. I'm not into massive XC endurance sessions or anything, but would like to take it to the Purbecks/New Forest etc in addition to fun drops, Northshore etc etc

The other bike I'm considering is the Marin B-17, but I've found an incredible deal on the Ramones 2.

Thanks in advance for any help that you guys can offer!

Alex

I've seen a couple owners post, but it doesn't appear to be a hugely popular bike.
Probably down the fact it's never been available as a frame only, and has only come in the one 'loveitorhateit' colour.

If it came in a more normal colour, and as frame only, then I would of probably retired my old Absolut AL by now, as from what I've seen, it's pretty much just an updated version. Certainly if my current hardtail dies, then a Ramones will be top of my replacement list.

Cheers for the reply.

Yeah, I'm not mad about the colour either, but will probably respray it at some point anyway. Have found it online for £664 (Single Track Bikes in Scotland), reckon it'd make a great platform for upgrading, forks being the first thing I'd change.

Might just go for it. Will report back if I end up buying one.
