Hi All,

Never had a Commencal before and looking for some info / advice from some guys in the know.

I'm currently looking at a Supreme Mini DH to do the Passporte du Soleil on this year, not sure of the exact age but approx. 3 years old with the following gear on it, was after some advice on whether it was a good machine for the job and if it is on the money?

Commencal supreme mini dh
Marzochi 55 adjustable
Fox dhx air shock
Raceface atlas chainset
Formula oro
Full sram xo
Ringle hubs on sunn rims
Race face Diablo bars and stem
Size m/l
Owned for 2 1/2 years
Good condition
£1000

Also what should I look out for if I go look at it and which model / year do you think it is with this spec on?

Any comments and advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Size medium large?

No such size.

There was either Small/Med or Large/XL

Looks ok for the money, but i'd want to knock the price down due to the forks being a pile of kak!

As for buying it, i'd hugely recommend going to see it, and inspect EVERY WELD on the bike, as they do crack.

Should do the job fine.  Agreed the forks could be better, maybe 180mm travel forks for Morzine, though not essential.  It depends how hard you ride, what terrain you'll be mostly riding back home etc.

My last bike was a 2007 mini dh and it held up pretty well on trips to Morzine.

Cheers Dudes,

Do you reckon this is a 2007?

Which model do you think it is, are they not branded Dh1, Dh2 and Team or something?

Would be using my Chameleon for most day to day stuff so not sure how much I'd use it at home, maybe just for when we go up to Innerleithen and stuff although they are supposed to pedal ok from what I have read so maybe I could use it more than I think.

Are the forks really that bad, I've read a couple of bad reports about them but do they actually ruin the bike?

Thanks again for the feedback, any further info is really appreciated.

Have you got a pic or two? This would help in determining what frame age it is.

No pictures unfortunately,

I haven't seen it yet.

Just wondered if the age and model could be determined from the spec.

Looks like (Due to the DHX air shock) that it could be a 2008 VIP frameset, which was a pure custom build frame only.

Cheers,

Apparently it does come with a coil shock as well, although I am not sure which one it is.

Without pics its pretty much impossible to tell. I don't think any came with Marzocchi 55's and a DHX Air as standard, but it could be just that it has been up graded. Mine has a DHX air on it, but its not standard. You say it comes with a coil shock so I would guess that is the original shock and has been up graded to the DHX Air.
Do you know what colour it is, as that will narrow it down quite a bit?

Im guessing that from the forks its a 08 mini dh2, which means it will be baby blue.
Those forks will not last a beating at portes du soleil, my mate blew his brand new set on the 2nd day of riding!!
If it is the 08 mini dh 2 i'd say 1000 is a bit steep, maybe 800-900(max) would be a better price mate. ( to give u an idea im gonna be selling my 08 mini dh1,which is in mint cond and has been maintained perfectly and has upgrades on brakes, pedals, stem and bars for 1100) .

But as a whole then yes the bike is more than capable of lasting out at morzine etc, i took mine out last summer and if you look in the pics and vids section and search Morzine, u will see from my pics that i wasnt exactly on the blue trails and my bike was ace!!

I'd say buy it for £900 or less. Spec is really good apart from fork and wheels.
If the wheels are true they should stay that way as long as you dont nose any jumps too badly; but as mentioned above a fork upgrade would be a good idea if you've got the money. Bought at Fox 36 RC2 just before I went to Morzine last year and made a world of difference.

I concur with all of the above ( especially having run 55's on a MiniDH and paid the price! )  Grin

Yo Dudes,

Cheers for the feedback.

Turns out it's not a mini it's a normal Supreme DH and the forks are 66's not 55's.

It's in white and I have bought it for £900.

The spare shock is a Fox DHX 5.0 coil which I have fitted and it feels pretty slick to me.

Front wheel could do with a little true before I go to Morzine which might be harder than it sounds as all the local bike shops are stacked out now then sun has come out, but apart from that it seems sweet.

Nice one man, lets see some pics?Huh?

If you dont manage to get the wheel sorted before you head over there are plenty decent shops over there that would do it there and then for ya.

A Supreme DH with 66s? That'll steepen up the head angle a lot!
