So got out on the Meta finally yesterday for the first time in 4 months since my bowel surgery and what a blinder it was! Still not really up to a 2 hr xc ride so hit up the trails at Bestwood park in notts that I saw video footage of Tex riding a few months back. Woah! How did I not know that was there?! Its effing awesome! Now I'm no Cam McCaul but there is a big range of jumps there that even soft lads like me dare to attempt (as well as some scary big stuff too!)  and after a couple of hours I was confidently hitting small doubles and gaps and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately conditions were a bit dry and loose which led to me having quite a big crash whilst railing a berm a bit too fast for my ability! Luckily wearing my pads and just sustained minor trail rash and winded for a minute or two. Today i'm feeling like i got hit by a truck but I can't wait to get back there so thanks Ben for opening up a whole new side of riding to me. Sorry to hear you had to sell the reign, awesome bike. Personal circumstances have stopped me riding for a while and its a bag of sh*t so hope it won't be too long before you're ripping it up on a new ride.

Cheers, Matt  Grin

Cheers Matt,

Glad you enjoyed it mate. Did you deck it in that big berm on the run down i videod as thats where i crashed head on into the tree after loosing it.

I was gutted to sell my Reign X but marriage split forced me to free up some cash so i can rent a place whilst i get my finances sorted.

I am hoping to get my hands on a cheap dirt jump bike (never should of sold my absolut) for something to thrash about as i dont want to trash my Cube. Cant wait to get back down to Bestwood as it is awesome and i want to do that big double and also the massive step down up from the dirt jumps.

Let me know when you are heading up there again and i will try and join you mate.

Not sure if it was the same berm dude but I went down like a sack of sh#t! Got the bars straight in the stomach, been agony every time i've coughed this week. Thinking about investing in a full facer if i'm gonna start riding down there. Am I asking for a cracked frame riding a meta (09 model) on that kind of stuff? My mates were tooled up with a giant glory and a spesh demo 7 and they were hitting the step down that leads into a big double nr the bottom. Didn't quite have the balls myself!
