This is the new frame the Athertons will be riding for the remainder of the 08 season and you guys will be able to buy from 2009.

Gentleman, charge your credit cards ;-)

The frame weights are or less the same as the 08 frame, as the pictures tell the main advantage is a lower COG and the ability to run a longer setpost. The frame retains the excellent Contact System suspension platform, it's just been condensed down in size.

Click Read More for more pics and a full report on the frame soon.

What deraileur is that?

and the seat post and bars?

Me thinks that Madison built that up for the show!  Grin

Other gossip is that Gee was riding a Furious at the weekend. I'm guessing he might ride one at the more 'Urban' events on the Red Bull calendar?

Just my views

It's a Shimano Dura Ace (road) Wink

Seat & bar, I think SunLine.

Can they get that head angle any slacker!  Shocked Cool Grin  i think they run the slackest of any of the race teams its amazing!

I think it looks really good, but it is starting to look more like a 'normal' bike with the regular shaped front section and shock location.

not to mention the stress on the main pivot stuck out like that is going to be huge!

I do love new design ideas tho, and whatever they do in R&D with the athertons they only seem to be getting faster!

That head angle is very slack, is that how they're gonna be next year? Or are these prototypes?

was looking at that bike in the flesh yesterday and the shock thats in that one is the wrong size, its a bit on the short size. The atherthons hadn't got there propper shocks from fox yet so they just popped that one in for display so its not as slack and low as the pic shows. Its ment to have a 241mm shock but that one isn't. To me it will be a tad high for my liking i reckon around the 14.5" mark. I was chatting to the guy in the background of the pics in the grey t-shirt he was one of the guys from Commencal and he said it would be available towards the end of the summer. He also mentioned that the following version as in 2010 would be a bit lighter, but for this year they just wanted to get the geo, suspension and durability right before they started going lightweight. He did however hint towards the posibility of lighter tubing being used in the future.

They are running small casettes there,im guessing these are custom jobbies?? Getting rid of unwanted weight by binning useless cogs!
