Afternoon Fellas
Just looking for a little advice about which in your opinion is the 'better'bike
as I'm after a new one
My 1st Meta 5 was the 2007 model which I absolutely loved but that got nicked
With the insurance money I then bought the the next model which I never quite
got on with & after having an op on my knee & knowing I was gonna be off the bike
decided to sell it.I've been of the bike for about 10 months now but I'm desperate to
get back out on the trails again.How I've missed going up Afan  
So ignoring the 2008 meta, which in ur opinion is better 2007 v 2009

I would go for a 2010 frame.. There have been well documented issues with the 2009 frames.

Thanks for the info but as I'm looking to buy used this will be a non-starter
One other question-Did the medium & large 2007 frames have the curved
top tube where it met the seat tube & was it only the small frames that
were a straight top tube

A 2009 Large frame will Crack around the seat tube.

2008 frames are more reliable than 2009.

OK,so 2009 frames no good,2008 I don't like.Looks like it's back to finding a decent 2007

Yeah thats a 2007 & the bike I most enjoyed riding....but TBH I'm really looking for a complete bike coz I wanna get out on it like yesterday
Been of it for 10 months now so I'm sure u understand my impatience.Like most things,when money allows I'll get it the bike the way I want
it over the next few months.Thanks for the heads up with the frame

Hi !  Nice to see you back on here again.
Finding a 2010 used may be difficult but don't write it off.
Some people who got 2010's as replacements for their cracked 2009 frames flogged them on.

I think you're right about the 2007 frames if they're like the 2008.
2008 Small - straight top tube, top shock mount welded to seat & top tube
2008 Med - top tube with bend at seat tube join, top shock mount welded to seat & top tube
2008 Large - top tube with bend at seat tube join, top shock mount welded to seat tube only.

No worries, glad to help.  I've recently changed over from an Orange 5 frame to a Commencal Meta 55 2010 frame bought off ebay. Trying to build it up but waiting for some parts to come. Getting really frustrated as the weather has turned out great and plus i am really looking forward to riding it as it gonna be different to the Orange. Hope you get the bike off ebay, looks to be in great condition.

Sorry to hear you also had your meta nicked  The STD meta could be the one,as long as it's in reasonable nick.
