Its a focus.  One idea was to call some windscreen people as my insurance covers replacement/repair.

The other alternative is to get a valet key cut if I supply my local Ford dealer with the VIN number and proof of ownership.

I am with the AA but I did take out homestart cover.  The spare set is at the bottom of the sea.

This self evidently isn't so but I thought some Focus' would 'sense' the key was in the car and not lock. Must be wrong.
Homestart AA then, or as you need a replacement 2nd set anyway...

Window is the way forward.

Lots less messing about than anything else.

Once i called a locksmith out and basically he pulled the door away from the chasis at the top... think always sounded horrible afterwards.

How old is the ford focus?

On the Pre 2004 mk2s, there's a way of getting into the car by doing something to the numberplate lights on the rear of the car, due to the lock being in the same loop. This unlocks the car, but i haven't got the foggiest on how to do it.

Failing that, spare key?

If the key's visible, then ease open the top of a door using blocks/wedges of wood to hold it open, and using a pole/hook/bit wire, grab the key. You'll need to tweak the top of the door back in after using this method.

If it's not easily accesible, brick is the easier option, but insurance won't cover you if you done it deliberately, and you'll need a police incident number if you do want the insurance to pay for window  Wink

Ok,so tell me are they keys shut inside the boot yeah? if so is the front of the car still open? if yes to both questions there, jump in the front hit the boot release button...simples  Grin  .

(i obviously dont think its that straight forward cos im guessing if it was then you'd have done so already!! but just a a thought!! )

Also the whole rear number plate lights thing would be a sure way to blow the fuses in your car and thats about it im guessing, but maybe that will release the boot at the same time?

In Montreal, we call a taxi as one of them has the proper tool to get into a car. It is much cheaper than calling a garage and having them do it. It is also a lot less expensive when it is a woman asking!
