no, sadly not an official Commencal announcement, just a bit of CoC fun/research.

If Commencal made a limited run of Meta 5.5 VIP frames with an exotic ultra light tubes (Like Easton Ultra-lite), and it's frame only weight was under 6lb, and it cost less than £1600 GBP, would you buy one?

I should say me too also. I'd get one without a doubt.

Would definitely be tempted, especially if they had an anodized option!

well, yes i might if i was gonna build up a meta (which isn't gonna happen i think). if they built a lightweight supreme fr/minidh frame though.... i would def get that one. hehe Wink commencals frames are a tad bit heavy so they should prob consider makeing em lighter overall

The Meta 4 needs it more, surely? New "light" tubeset for both would be nice, bearing in mind what some people do on Meta 5s. It suggests the 4 is way overbuilt.

What would be the point in that? Heavy is the new light. If you dont get a hernia lifting it over a style its not gonna be tough enough Wink
If they bring out a solid cast iron 666 I might consider it. Cool

One of the stong points of the Meta frame is its stiffness. Reducing weight will probably reduce stiffness which may not be a good thing.

Coming from a flexy full sus I feel the stiffness if the Meta is quite reassuring when the going gets tough.

"wants it, precious and lightses, hmm, so light is the precious"

unlikely to ever be able to afford though...
