yup, Marzocchi Fender, specifically for All Mountain shocks, works a treat and I look like motoX rider LOL! Also run Crud Catcher on the down tube and rear... make of that what you will.

Got to be honest...I can't stand mudguards. At a stretch i'll accept a crud catcher ( as long as it is colour matched ), but I just can't stand bolting anything to bikes. I did enough of that in the 80's with Local Motion accessories ( that is showing my age! )

But it is up to you..... Grin

Yep, front and rear in the winter. `might not look cool, but a wet arse is not fun on a 5 hour ride.

Yep - THE shroud fender - bolts straight into the base of my Pikes - see pic in user bikes area.

Rear - sometimes, but waterproof shorts are the best invention ever. Especially when you have to sit on a wet chairlift for 10 min ride :-)

I've been using a SKS Shockboard. However, I'm tempted by the Cycraguard and a Neoguard http://www.gravity-slaves.co.uk/?a=421

TBH - if I'm only out at a trail centre, I'll not bother. But longer runs - away from the car - I prefer to stay drier, longer!!

I was reminded this morning why i use mudguards... out on the old railway line, which is a dog-walkers haven... Dog sh*t up the nostrils is not something to be suffered for teh sake of muddy coolness...

I'm just getting one of these made for me with some custom decals-
http://www.rapidracerproducts.com/NeoGuard.htm

Will run that up front all the time, but only run a rear one for 24/12/10 hour races, solo or otherwise, or a really big, long epic ride. Otherwise, no. No point.

I've just slapped a Cycraguard on the front of my 5.5 after getting a face full sludge last weekend (my own fault really, should have paid more attention to where I was going!!) Tonights night ride should prove if it was worth the cash, I don't think it looks to bad though.

I'm probably being thick  Embarrassed, but I don't understand how that NeoGuard protects you from mud? Doesn't the mud fly up from the bottom of the wheel towards the downtube and, ultimately, your face?

when the mud is getting flicked up off ur front wheel alot of it heads out between the crown and arch on the forks and coz ur moving forward when that muck is flying about thru the air it smacks into you with the whole forward motion action thats going on!! More of an issue on long travel bikes which hav a decent rake (slacker head tube angle) on the front end....

OK, not for the mudguard averse amongst us...

I broke half of my Marzocchi fender off this morning, so now I'm sporting 5 (yes five!) forms of mudguard...

can you see them all???

Only the front half of the fender left, so the crud catcher is back on the downtube

but I found a mudguard on the trail this morning which fits nicely on the back of the seat tube.

And a little cut down mousemat to keep the sh*t off the front derailleur, or rats nest...as it is fondly referred to

So, how sad am I? Answers on a postcard please...

Bit the bullet at after Saturday's filthy ride on my 5.5 and fitted a Cycraguard to the downtube, Crudcatcher to the back, and a home-made jobbie in front of the back wheel to protect the front shifter gubbins, a la Te Bheag's mousemat version - mine is out of some factory conveyor belt. Hope they don't notice a missing mouse-mat-sized piece in the factory  Wink

The rear looks a bit airy-fairy, the front ruins the commie graphics and my conveyor belt does indeed look home-made, but I'm strangely excited about NOT getting a soaking wet arse and a mud-filled rucksack for 3 hours next weekend!!

Thanks for the suggestions guys - feel I've got the best combo
