Hi I've just joined the forum and thought I would scout about for any fellow Scottish Commencal riders by asking for opinions on what the best trail in Scotland is? Photographic evidence is welcome so I'lll start us off by suggesting that Laggan might be a contender?

I am not a Scot but do ride North of the border a couple of times a year. I think that the Kirroughtree black route is great with a lot of downhill sections for your climbing. It is also handy in terms of travelling from England. Welcome to the forum.

Good call, I totally agree that Kirroughtree black is an awesome route. I've only been there once but had a great time. Its actually a bit of a journey from where I am in Dundee though.

"best trail in Scotland" Phew... can of worms opened with that question...."Kirrie" has been voted the best in the UK, it is my playground, but I do like Dalbeatie,Ae and Mabie is growing on me... every trail has it's good/bad points, and lets not forget that we also have Glentress-Inners-Golspie-Dunkeld-Ft.Bill are trails that I have yet to tackle....at the momment I would say that my fav trail is Kirrie..

and welcome to the forums..

I'd forgotten about Golspie! That is a fantastic trail with a proper black climb to match the downhill. Now if only you could couple the black climb at Golspie with the black downhill at Laggan that would something!

Indeed this will open a can of worms here! The best trail? well every1 has thier own fav and it also depends on style of track, ie xc, freeride, dh etc.

But in my opinion (having rode about 90% of what our bonny land has to offer ) i say Nevis Range Dh track for DH, then Inners For 2nd place in DH, then prob Ae for 3rd spot on DH.
Freeride, thats easy nothing beats Spooky woods there, then my 2nd Spot for that is Ae forest with omega man,3rd spot?? not so sure, maybe Glentress Freeride area or Bonaly (whitehill) Trails!
XC?? Pah i dont do them cos im too lazy, but the pentlands have some epic rides!!
DJ's- well my fav used to be Good Old melville woods (RIP  Cry ) till it got bulldosed a few years back, but now im on the look out for a good replacement.

can an Englishman comment?
M74 southbound @ Gretna - the 'trail' back to the homeland
Ha take that for a can of worms Grin

Seriously though - Spooky Woods at GT is possibly the most fun possible on a bike or Mabie for me with Dalbeattie up there too but thats the total of the manmade stuff Ive done in Scotland. Scottish Trail centres are on a different level all together compared to England and Im looking forward to getting up there a few times next year
Natural stuff - Isle of Skye has some awesome riding and even better scenery

Fort bill is my fave DH track in scotland, and it's lift operated, therefore the best.

Yeah i forgot about Falkland on that dom, well reminded, although i'd say that it was more of a freeride venue than proper dh.
It goes in my top3 for freeride. (im heading up there in jan/feb to help with a bit of building and to slay the drops and gaps  Cool )
