and in particular the rear -

135mm bolt thru 12mm Formula rear hub on a Sun Singletrack rim

whats it like?
Heavy?
bearings etc alright / replacable?
Suit my Meta 5?

or a complete no-go no matter how cheap I might pick one up Wink?

The singletrack rims are good. I ran them on my DH bike for ages with no probs.

They are not that heavy either.

I am not a huge fan of their hubs and unless new or reasonably cheap I would't bother. If you are getting them on a bike then it's a case of run them till their done unless you want to spend money on something.

As with all wheels, a lot of the rim strength comes down to the build.  I've had a pair of singletracks on my hardtail (4X bike) and have found them to be really good.  They've taken a lot of abuse and hangups and are still straight.  Not had much dealings with recent formula hubs, they did always seem to come specced on reasonable bike, but seemed to be a budget option.  Just need someone to answer on whether they are cart bearings or not, if they are you can always replace them with some good quality SKF bearings and have happy rolling for many many miles Smiley
