i am leaning towards the fox 40 but i got half my friends telling me to get the boxxer. either way i go i know people that can teach me how to maintain them. one of the man reasons i am going towards the fox 40 is because it is really stiff. i mean no flex. why are you leaning towards the boxxer?

Nearly eveyone I know who have the 2010 Boxxers has had trouble with them this year, litterally within a couple of hours of riding since getting them too!  Some people I know have had them back under warranty 4 or 5 times  Shocked
Unless they have sorted the problems out, (and TBH how would you know what stock you receive), I would avoid 2010 Boxxers and hopefully the 2011's will be sorted and ready for the real world.

If you need forks now then Fox 40's are bullet proof, had various pairs for the last 4 years and never had a single problem.

FOX 40s ALL THE WAY.......rockshox boxxers are cheaper and as others have said there have been problems with the new ones, but i wouldnt buy old ones now tht the new ones are out, cause they look boring Tongue only reason is if they were uber cheap

Apparently a lot of the issues with the new boxxers were manufacturing issues, poor tolerances, incorrect oil levels etc etc, I heard of some forks being shipped with no oil in and the seals sticking to the stanchions due to the heat the friction caused!

According to TFtuned, once they are put together properly with the correct amount of oil they are bang on.

I had the old boxxers and they were great.

I now have fox 36's and they are much better than my old boxxers so I would be inclined to go with the fox 40's.

im running 2010 boxxers, which have been properly set up & ive had no problems whatsoever since buying; including multiple runs at fort bill, inners, cwmcarn etc.

i did 'consider' the £600 upgrade to the fox 40s but can honestly say im happy with what ive got, after all if their good enough for peaty they're certainly good enough for me!!!

This is the reason mostly, i reckon the 40's will be too stif for my liking. Plus the boxxers are that little bit lighter. I will just send my boxxers off to TFT before i use em to get them sorted out, a bit uncalled for on a new set of forks, but it still ends up being waaaaay cheaper than 40's .

I don't understand this 'too stiff' comment, you'd complain if your frame flexed, so why do people prefer 'bendy' forks Huh?

You know, i'm not sure whether I really need to buy a complete DH bike anymore, or whether I'd be better off putting a set of 40s or Boxxers on my Supreme!

what i found out so far is that people dont like it that stiff cause you get arm pump easier. i think if you set it up right that would not be an issue. i would perfer a fork that does not flex cause that would mean it will track better and go where i point it. there has been too many times when i try to take a line and my fork doesnt want to. thats why i want the fox 40.

I like 40s once they're rolling. Yes, they feel rubbish in the car park test, but they're awesome on the trail.. (both riding buddies have them, one is on a 2010 giant glory, and one is on a 224)

Then again, i'm a bit of a rockshox fan, so i'd go for the boxxers.

From what i've heard, if you have the patience to service the boxxers AT THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS, then boxxers are ever so slightly better performers than the 40s (By about the thickness of a rizla). But 40s need a bit less maintenance, and are slightly stiffer.

Then again, i've seen a lot of seals that have blown, and weeping in 40s.

Huh? Nope still don't understand, although I've never had arm pump in my life and from what I've read and seen from fellow riders, both MTB and motorcycling, arm pump is usually atributed to repetative braking and gripping the bars too tightly rather than the suspension action  Huh?
All I know is that when I had Boxxers, (3 different pairs), they all broke at some point and since I've converted to 40's I've never had a single problem.

i think its fair to say ive been advised to 'keep on top of the servicing' of my boxxers, im running the firm spring in them and they've been great so far; nice, light & feel great. Bong they are on my 224 evolution.
