TBH i dont care what helmet it is ,if i had a big stack on it i would replace it right away, NO helmet is designed to take multiple impacts. 661 also do a crash replacement policy

TLD also have a crash replacement policy.   They're normally something on the lines of we will 'replace' your helmet for a special discounted price ~ 30% - 40% less than RRP which is usually about the same as what you'd be able to get if you hunted around the internet.  
So TBH they're not worth anything better than normal consumer power.

I would pay whatever I could afford, if money was no object then I would probably have an Arai VX3.

But I don't have unlimited funds so I think you can get good protection without spending more than about £150

You can get TLD's, THE's, EVO's and others for less than this.

As far as I am aware all these helmets meet the safety standards required for downhill testing.

I think paying more generally means lighter, not always better.

I love the look of the TLD but would not discount the 661 evo until I get to try them on I think.

Cost is always an issue otherwise every one would also have Leatt braces as well. We all know they are a good idea but not many of us have a spare £350 ish quid.

Its not something i would put a price limit on, i would spend whatever neccesary to get a helmet that meets the safety requirements i needed for whatever sport i was needing it for.
I just wouldnt like to  spent like 3x's the money i needed when i could get a pretty damn smart one that is more than capable of protecting my mush for brains for much much less.

As much as i can afford to get a good helmet.

I'm defintely not getting another specialized devinet ive had two and both the outer shell has separated from the eps inner , 661 evo or The ink for me next i think

i have a deviant for the last two years and allthough needing replaced, its not fallen apart

I certainly wouldn't buy a helmet that had to be scrapped after every impact, and I know from experience that when I buy a D2 it with take some punishment. 

You do realise that with EVERY helmet, if you fall off and hit your head hard you have to replace the helmet?
