Scaphoid fracture? I presume you're in a cast so? If your scaphoid is fractured you're more looking at 8 weeks min, probably 12 weeks. That's one bone you really want to heal right. You might get away with riding sooner, but then the bone might die due to loss of its' blood supply and THEN you're in trouble.

Sorry, it wasn't intended in that way. It's just that the scaphoid is unusual in that its' blood supply only comes into one end of it. So when it fractures, if not set properly and allowed to heal, the bone can die with the result that the wrist bones can fuse together and you end up with an immobile joint. Best case outcome at that point is bone grafts from your hip. It often doesn't show up on x-ray for a few weeks after too.

I spent a month in a cast myself last year with a suspected fractured scaphoid, fortunately it turned out to be torn ligaments, that wrist is still very weak though. Hence how I know all about these things. And once again, sorry. I didn't intend to scare the OP.

Last year I was in Morzine, we took some lifts over to Chatel to the freeride park. Now I'm not really one to gripe about manmade trails, but there were these 'kids' (probably about 16-20, so younger than moi) that were doing all the drops and jumps. They would have been impressive if they hadn't always ended their sections with a skid.

We ended up eating lunch there just to watch their skids!
It was hilarious!
So much balls/talent and no sense.

The drifting is something else.
It seems very 'in' to drift. It's not faster or cleverer, but it's featured a lot in zee movies.
If your wheels are in full traction your in control and can carry more speed.
But if your riding so fast that they 'let go' it's good to be able to hold that.

But I heard you can end up hurting yourself in your, knee and wrist? I'm not sure, it might just be rumours, put out there by someone who couldn't drift, and has faked getting hurt as an excuse to not have to try anymore...  Wink

Get well soon.

no fakeness and i can/have and will continue to be able to do it when need be... its not intentional when it happens but its nice to know i can catch it

monster and vodka fueled stupidity may have also featured in the incident

thanks me thinks  Undecided
