I'll tell what I find totally senseless with the Council Cycle to Work Scheme. After being out Sunday with my fellow Commie brothers riding their full suspension steeds I got on the Internet to price the 2009 Metas now the new season bikes are upon us. Found a really sweet ex-display model, size small, one left at a brilliant price only to find that the Council's scheme has closed for the year! See tomorrow, I'm emailing whoever's in charge to tell them about their bad planning! I mean surely they realise some people would rather wait for bikes at a good price than paying full whack for something and why don't they run the scheme all year round? I can't afford to pay fortunes ... oh well ...

I know it's different for different schemes, but I found it impossible for a bike shop to accept a cycle scheme voucher on a sale bike. They only accept payment on full RRP bikes. They loose about 10% to the company running the scheme, so selling discounted bikes would result in a loss.

Did you get a chance to try a small meta at the weekend? I think you should before you buy. Dave's is a small and I'm sure he'll let you have a play next month if you're coming to 'degla.

To be honest Electrogirl I have always been happy with a hardtail. My mates use to have full sus's and I could keep up with the no problems. In fact i was quicker on the flat and the climbs. You develop great bike skills on a hardtail. The reason I got a ful sus was for the downhill and for travelling abroad. A full sus absorbs so much more on rough trails and actually corrects mistakes in some way. You can afford to hit a rut of take a bad line as the rear suspension absorbs the impact where as a hardtail would throw you off. Also handy for rocky trails like Coed Brenin & Morzine!! I think you need to decide why you want a full sus really becuase modern quality hardtails will take a lot pf punishment are easier to climb with and weigh far less. However if you doing a lot of rough trail work and downhill a full sus may be the way to go. I'm lucky I have both. Dunno if that helps or not

A small white one with flat pedals eh? I'd love a shot ... Sure you're not too attached to it to entrust it to little ole me?
