After reading all the posts on here about cracked Meta 5 frames i always checked mine over after every ride when washing it, and today whilst squirting the Muc Off what did i find ? a crack where the seat tube is welded to the down tube, not happy at all , i took it back to One Planet Adventure today and the look on the guys face told me i wasnt the first to have this problem, its going to be stripped down and sent back on Tuesday but its going to be 6 weeks before i get a replacement, im now going to have to beg and borrow a spare bike from one of my mates, O.P.A did say i could use a hire or demo bike if i wanted to ride up there  so at least i can still get out now and again

Sorry to hear about your frame.
I am in the same boat, cracked meta 6  in the same place as yours.
Been waiting 5 weeks now for replacement.
Commencal obviously have issues which they need to sort out in regards to frame manufacture.

Why not hold onto your cracked frame for a few more weeks? There's no point letting it collect dust in a warehouse at Madison. I'm guessing you caught the crack at an early stage, so it might still be rideable.

Good news, noticed I`ve got the beginning of a fine hairline crack in the same place plus 2 cracks where the pivots attach to the down tube. I`m holding off taking it back yet because A. I want a 2010 replacement and B. I can`t do without the bike for 6 weeks at the moment.

Another sad day here too.... noticed a hairline the other month between top tube and seat post so made sure my saddle was never up full from then on, but also have the dreaded crack on one side of the shock mount on the down tube !!! I'll be keeping mine till Nov as off to Australia for just over 3 weeks so they can sort it then.

Emailed shop today and got v quick reply.... the only thing i'm hoping is that the replacement frame is White to replace my White 5.5.2 Meta 2009 model as I don't like or want the red one!!

Part of email response below....

"Hi there
Sorry to hear about your frame, this is very disappointing indeed.
Dave from Madison advises us that the crack is not going to structurally affect your bike and so it can be ridden. You will have to be the judge of that, obviously, but ultimately we need Madison th organise a warranty replacement for you.
We don't, unfortunately have a fleet of bikes we can loan in this
circumstance, sorry.
Let me find out when the 2010 frames will be available and get back in touch with you ASAP."

Cheers

Quick update folks..... Had a voicemail left today telling me that after speaking to Madison, they can have my frame in by two weeks. I don't need or want to swap yet, but it may help alleviate peeps fears, if true, a few fears of being without their rigs!!

Cheers

Is there a wait before it gets seen by the warranty people then?

I may go into the shop that i got mine from tomorrow on the way to the trails to get them to sort it out before sendin my bike.

With both my frames I've had an answer from Madison pretty quickly.  First time, took the frame in on the Sunday, shop posted Monday, and got a call Wednesday to say I'd be getting a new frame.

Second time, took the frame in on the weekend, got a call Monday to say Madison were going to supply a new one without even seeing it (obviously subject to them actually receiving it back and inspecting)

Overall, the time it gets them to commit to it being a warranty issue if very good. For comparison my friend took his Rocky Mountain in the same weekend as me and he's yet to receive an answer one way or the other as to whether they will honour warranty on it - thats seven weeks ago now.

The length of time it takes Madison/Commencal to supply the new frame is a bit woeful though (seven weeks in waiting on frame 3 to be delivered and being told its gonna be end October earliest) Still, it means I get to ride the hardtail so not all bad.

Mine will be 8 weeks if it turns up when they said it will, i did send Madison 2 emails but never recieved anything back, they were just general questions relating to possible delivery times with a warranty claim, maybe they couldnt get to the computer due to the huge pile of frames blocking the way Grin
