I was just cleaning my bike after LLandegla/moors run and sprayed WD40 on my brakes instead of brake cleaner do you think it will have any long term effects,I did respray over them with cleaner but would rather be save than sorry.
Interesting technique, no wonder you got round so fast.  Is that what DH racers do?  Smiley

Because I begrudge paying 20 greenbacks for a pair of pads, when I contaminated mine with DOT 4 (along with one of my eyes - don't ask) I whapped them under the grill on max for half an hour. Job done, good as new.

Lesson to be learnt..

never take wd40 near bikes.. (GT85 is much nicer).

WD40 stays sticky, and means that muck sticks to whatever you put it on.

You could also try boiling the pads in water.

The oil will float to the top.

If they're organic, add some carrots and a little coriander. Mmmm. Cheesy
