Just give it a go..

And stop worrying you'll crack your frame.  Take it easy for a few runs, then lay off the anchors.

good all year round imo. if you dont fancy the dh then the descent on the twrch trail is one of the best finishes around. pity the FOC are smashing up all the little dh runs people having been doing for years in the area. nevermind eh  Undecided

ok cool...

Is it mostly rollable or are there any gap jumps and 4ft drops that cannot be chicken-run'd?

I've not ridden a DH trail before but riding Afan makes me want to take it up a gear.

What sort of protection is recommended - was thinking Kyle Straits and Full Face?

From videos i have seen, people ride it on 5 inch bikes. Everyone seems to come on here and ask things like this because they are scared of breaking their frames  Tongue Its only gonna happen if you REGULARLY ride these kind of tracks  Roll Eyes

What i do when riding DH (I do however fall off a lot) is knee shins, elbow pads, and a FF+Goggs.

I have however achieved cuts and holes in my skin on my torso from riding DH. (Currently have a hole that is healing, and has been for 3 weeks from where i was impaled on a fence. Nearly fully healed now though.).

Majority of DHers ride clipped in, but Flats rule, everyone use to go on about how flats were sh1t, but then Sam Hill silenced them all, clips are basically used for more pedal efficiency
