I have decided that the original wheels on my Meta 5.5.2 2008 are past their best!
I would lurve a set of Hope Pro3 hoops but can't justify £350 for a set of 'Pete Beales' on a £1700 bike.
So i'm thinking about the Mavis Crossrides - seem to get good reviews and are more wallet friendly at £170ish.
Has anyone got any experience of these on a Meta?
Will i notice an improvement?
My normal riding is 'Trail Madness' Black n Red trail centre fun.

Please help....

I have Mavics.. They have been really good wheels, but when the hubs die, I'll be swapping them for some Hope Pro 2's.

The only bad point about them is the availability / cost of spares and that they can't be converted to bolt thru..

Other than that, they have been spot on for a good 3yrs.. Never even required a spoke tightening.

Cheers
Thanks for the reply.
I'm still ideally thinking about Hope proII's on DT 5.1 rims.

I'd love to find them for £200, can't find Hub at GT shop online.....not phoned em yet!

I was quoted when i was in and asked, £200 for a pair, that was a Hope Pro2 laced onto DT EX5.1D rim, Hope Hoops, 9QR Front and 135x10QR Rear. I am going to take them up on the offer for my DJ bike  Grin Grin

i had a Crossride on the rear of my 2009 Meta 5 VIP and did spend quite alot of time keeping it straight.  in fact i have just replaced it because i had rounded off too many spoke collars. (is that what they are called?)

Replaced with a Crosstrail, like the front, which has proved perfect and true to date.  And added benefit of tubeless.

For a budget set of wheels they are excellent value, certainly better since they went to sealed bearings.  Downside is they cannot be converted to any other mount, but if that's not a problem go for it, you won't find better wheels for ~£160.

I found the Crosstrails were too flexible when side loaded, so I swapped mine for some Flow rims on Hope hubs. It depends on where and what you ride, and how much abuse your wheel get. I'm not too lardy and ride all sorts, and I didn't think they we're up to the job.

I contacted the hub at GT, was told the Pro2's are at retail! about 290ish?

The crossrides are starting to look like my best option!

Hi,
do you have any idea how much lighter the crossmax's would be over stock Ringle 27s supplied on an 08 Meta. I'm currently going through the same process...
Thanks.
