the right bike helps for sure, but i found that the mini dh took it all very well, infact when i go back next year i reckon the meta 4x i hope to buy will be seeing usage on all those drops and jumps as i reckon it will be more fun as the mini dh may have been a bit overkill for a lot of it.

now this is where the confusion for me starts. Having spend three days in Morzine I felt that my 07 meta 5.2 coped very well. However it is the closest I have felt it to its limits. Also 90% of people in Morzine and Les Gets are on full DH bikes. Surely they cannot all be wrong and must be on the correct machinery or they would all go onto 5" or 6" trail / all mountain bikes? In other words I would have thought a mini DH was the perfect bike for Morzine and Les gets - no?

For some reason I saw a few people come a croper at the same spot. There is nothing technical or steep about it. I think it was the fact that you could hit a double stutter jump at a heck of a lot of speed

My first time down this run and this one nearly caught me out badly. I think if you carry enough speed you would clear it easily. Its a slight lack of speed that sends you straight into the upslope of the double and bounces you six foot in the air. Managed to hang on and the meta dragged my inexperienced skinny white arse through. Better lucky than good I say.

Im back home now and it sucks,i so still wanna be out there.

Ah le Morzine blues!! Takes about three weeks to go away I'm afraid.

ahh, what i was meaning dude,is the jumps and the drops i have in my pics i would do on the meta, not the rest of les gets etc, like the dh tracks. Just the jump park at les gets and the drop zone etc at chatel.
Yeah the mini dh felt spot on for the rest of the stuff.

It could well be dom,i think that is most likely where it is,but the people in am hoping to be doing a lot of riding with next year should be suitable to get me in the door there  Wink Wink

Bong....

The Face is the Slope style course that was built for the annual comp..... totally insane course.... just before the Chatel road gap you take a right in the trail... sign posted THE FACE... just riding the sections in between the stunts was near vertical and tbh F*** scary in places... we managed to ride one very lame and tame move ha ha.... see link for more info

A wee vid of my 1ST attempt (hence the lack of style off it and the round of applause from my mates) on the chatel road gap.

oh and as a result in trying to push my skills to another level,i today set myself a new target... to do the atherton gap in wales (not sure its exact name or location, but i will find that out closer to the time) within the next two years, its a biiiiiiiggg gap so not gonna push myself to fast in to it,but it will happen.

Saw this gap today.. It's MASSIVE..

BTW, it's right on the side of a road, quite easy to get to! As long as you know where it is!

It's on the road down to the Bala DH track..

Oh, and it's a place you really don't want to fall off on..

the place is made out of rock, and fist sized boulders.

And you can't miss it!
