actially, thinking about it, the only thing i'm annoyed about, is that you're over there, dusty trails, sun, etc..

And if i want to go ride DH, i need to get the wet tyres out.. And cover myself in waterproofs..

Defo props from me Bong - was in Morzine area last July shat the bed from the road gap in Chatel - only a Meta 5.5 at the time so can claim I was keeping my warranty intact which is just as well as I cracked the fooker shortly after!     Looks even more impressive/intimidating from that side view - and that Mutzig must be having the desired affect on your back.     Should cart a barrel home with you to ease you back into  normal life maybe?

I'd say you're pushing your envelope - good work fella!

Bong,  I do seem to remember reading, somewhere on one of you posts, that you were looking for other people to ride with in order to up your game. Having viewed these photos I can categorically state that I am not the person you are looking for!! I much prefer my wrist, collar bones, neck and spleen as they are thank you very much.

As for not taking out insurance - are you insane? There were a couple of heli lifts off the plenney when I was there - its just not worth the risk.

This probably because of my age right enough. But all you youngsters out there - do as Bong says not as he does please.

There endith the leason!!

Fair play to you there Bong, saw those jumps at Les Gets and didn't really think the Meta was really going to stand much of a chance at them.  Was there for one week before moving on to Chamonix and I'm now in Alpe D'heuz prepping for a crack (hopefully not literally) at the mega course tomorrow.  Can't wait!  Great pics by the way!

Not up to your standard Bong but here is some handlebar mounted camera footage of one of
my runs on Chavannes minus the big jumps:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdYeIcstQWA

The last run of the day so was being careful as you'll see some poor dude about a 3rd of the way down being put on a spine board before being airlifted off! I hope he was alright....
For some reason I saw a few people come a croper at the same spot. There is nothing technical or steep about it. I think it was the fact that you could hit a double stutter jump at a heck of a lot of speed cos up until that point there are no proper obstacles so yopu think you are invinsible.

nice!

That double just sucks, I've seen a guy being put on a stretcher and airlifted at the same place ... I've tried hitting it a couple of times, almost went OTB once and then gave up on it.

I hate you. You are the man that I dream of! >:(Seriously, cool photos mate. I have not got the same size of balls that you have, but just about took that 3rd down photo jump by mistake when i was there in early July. What is the combination you need to take these jumps and gaps? Confidence, balls, skill and the right bike?

Ohh i dunno bout that dude,im sure i could learn plenty from you. There is always things some1 can learn from riding with new people.

And the insurance thing..yeah i know it was a proper stupid move,i just left a lot of things to the last min and i was hoping that my mate was sorting that out,and when i found out that he had only got his own we were pretty much on our way to morzine, i had insurance that would have covered my medical stuff(have that permanantly),just not my gear, like if the bike was broke or stolen etc.

And Metasix, well the right bike helps for sure, but i found that the mini dh took it all very well, infact when i go back next year i reckon the meta 4x i hope to buy will be seeing usage on all those drops and jumps as i reckon it will be more fun as the mini dh may have been a bit overkill for a lot of it. Balls? well yeah they are a must, but in my case i'd say its prob also a drive to improve my biking, cos i want to take up racing again and want to be at a competitive level. And as for skill...well im proof that  maybe not so much is needed cos i dont think i have that much of it really Huh?   Huh?

~but really i just enjoy pushing myself and seeing my biking progress,to be honest i dont think any of those jumps tried my skills that much,i didnt find any of them remotely difficult, just really really fun,i guess it was my determination and confidence in myself that was tested the most.

Im back home now and it sucks,i so still wanna be out there.

Monkeymagic,if u are up for it a few of us are going back next year for like 10-14 days, hopefully including a few guy from here too.

oh and as a result in trying to push my skills to another level,i today set myself a new target... to do the atherton gap in wales (not sure its exact name or location, but i will find that out closer to the time) within the next two years, its a biiiiiiiggg gap so not gonna push myself to fast in to it,but it will happen.
