I've got one but don't wear it much. I bought it for a trip to Morzine a few years ago.

As you're probably aware it is a normal looking MTB lid with a removable chin guard. Better ventilated and lighter than a full face but undoubtedly not as durable, it would probably need replacing after a substantial crash too. I'd say it would save you're face in a normal MTB off, but I would not recommend it in any way for full DH or freeride shenanigans.

The one I have is in good condition and if you're interested (and assuming it'll fit you) I'd be willing to part with it for a reasonable price. I think it is a medium, but I'll check. If you're interested send me a PM.

How about a specialized deviant?

http://www.cyclestore.co.uk/productDetails.asp?productID=14289

I've got one that I'm not using (in silver) in size large.... 57-63cm.

It's not THAT much hotter than an xc helmet, i've used it for all dayers before. Obviously on a hot day it does get hot but that's the trade-off for the extra protection...

Much better than a Met IMHO.

PM me if you're interested.

I used a Met Parachute for a couple of seasons....never crashed with it on.

It was ( and still is ) a lightweight 'hybrid' helmet. It is by no means a 'Freeride' helmet.

If you are wanting a more DH type helmet, get a proper full facer.

They are ok, but as soon as I could I swapped to a more classic 'XC' lid ( a Bell 'Variant' ) and a Full facer ( Giro Remedy ).

Hope that helps

I think a combo like Vic-Tim mentions above is the best option, one xc or p1ss pot style lid and a proper full face, like any of the above suggested. It's never bothered me that much that they can get quite warm, the extra protection can feel really good and I find they move around on the head less than normal helmets do.

I am not a DH type of person trails and xc stuff,I am just one of them blokes that if somebody is going to get hurt in your group it will be me ha ha ,I dont fear much and will have a go untill ,last Saturday that is my mind set has now changed a bit,who ever I am with in future will have to wait for me at the bottom of single track etc etc.
So looking at all the diff Helmets the Met parachute does look the best for my type of riding.

nooooooooo dude, dont let the crash effect u in that way, stay balls out!! its the way of the men,if u end up being a woose and reserved when out on the bike u will enjoy it less, granted being balls to the wall will be more painful and may result in the odd crash, but it will offer u much more rewarding rides etc. just learn ure limits and only push beyond them slightly instead of miles too far!  Grin

The venting on the specialized deveint is great and ive had two(08 and 09) but to be honest i cant recomend it. Both the 08 and current 09 helmets that i own have had the polystrene like inner separate from the hard out shell from just general use ie not from a crash so there build quality isnt great at all. On the plus side protection wise they have both still done there job even when i went somersaulting over the bars just after the cwmcarn road drop Embarrassed
