I've never seen anyone riding without a full face when using a neck brace which is fine, but Sam Hill is well known for not riding with leg armour... even the commentators in freecaster have commented on it.

I peraonally believe and think most will agree with me tht, peeps shouldnt look up to the pros as trend setters and follow them, they should do wat is right for themselves not following wat everyone else is doing, thaat is not wat MTBing is about, we should follow them for their characters, style (bike style), speed, performance and generosity they have done for the sport

That's a fair point Dom, but they ARE and always will be seen as ambassadors for the sport and as such should represent the highest ideals and show the way forward... the same way as F1 and WRC drivers are looked up to by all those who aspire to the same level.

That's why I feel that, like in F1, the Pros should be wearing full armour in order to ensure that everyone else does. Especially the younger riders.

Yeah Sam rides quite regularly without armour, and as has been said in another reply, it's not just races... the do it in videos too... have a look how many of the don't wear armour in seasons and roam!

not seen them, but yeah, i just dont believe that the pros should be accountable for everyone else not wearing it, im not trying to start an arguement i just think that everyone should do wat they want, the pros are there to ride bikes FAST and compete at the highest level becuase they can, they should not be penalised because they dont wear armour becasue they dont want to....................................

This will be a never ending battle because everyone has their own views, peeps should do wat they want and wat is best for them, not following others (well not the armour side at least  Wink)

As far as I know, it is not safe to wear the Leatt brace without a full face helmet. The brace would not work without the helmet and could cause more damage than good with a xc lid.

Spot on. It's even shown on the Leatt website... if you don't wear a full face then the brace will act as an extra pivot point in a crash and will snap your neck like a twig. Not sure who's seen someone riding without a full face and with a neck brace but It's DEFINITELY not recommended!
