Hi guys,

A quick one for you... I'm going to be doing my first couple of downhill races this year in the SDA series and I was wondering whether you guys think my bike will handle it? Trust me, i'm not going to be trying to do a Gee but I'll be giving it some speed.

My bike is here: http://www.commencalownersclub.com/index.php/topic,1769.0.html. I think the build is fairly burly but what do you guys think?

I'll be saving up to get a full on dh rig as soon as I can but will this last for a few races until then?

I would think it would be OK, dont do it too often though, but it should stand quite a bit of abuse, remember u need a BC license to race!

Nice one, u could be harsh with it, just not like with other bikes for DH/Freeride. The hope guys raced them at the Ft Bill endurance DH so it should be ok. I want to race and am ready/good enough to but i dont know anything about it and kinda nervous etc. Any help/advice. I would be doing SDA too. I dont know how it all works fully

Lol well I'm going to be doing the Fort Bill enduro this year as you mention it and on my 666 too so that's reassuring to know!

I've never raced dh before and I know that I'm nowhere near fast enough to win but i'm going to use this first season to learn how it all works and get my technique sorted before really going for it next season...

www.sda-races.com has most of the information, you'll need to register with them and then keep an eye out for what they call the 'ticket release' which is the time and date when you can apply for tickets for the 2 rounds they release at that time. You then find out if you've been successful and if you have you have 7 days to enter and pay for the races otherwise they give your tickets away to the reserve list.

The next draw for tickets will be at 8pm on 1 may for the next 2 rounds.

The website is pretty good at telling you what happens really...

Where abouts in Scotland are you? Might be nice to find a dh buddy if you live my end of the country... i'm up near Inverness.

You don't need a BC licence to race SDA's, unless you're a juvenile, expert, elite, or you want to gain UCI points.

Although having just checked that, I'm now intrigued as to why juveniles need a BC license...

It's something to do with insurance for minors.

If any of you DH virgins want to hook up at FW and be guided down the 'lines of choice' for a couple of runs let me know, just come over to the Ticket2rideBC.com/Descent-gear gazebo and ask for Steve.  I intend getting there Friday afternoon and we usually set up near the finish and stay all weekend sleeping on site.

I should have the new Supreme running by then too Smiley

Hi Steve, I'll be there from either Friday night, or Saturday morning so I'll definitely come along and say hi. I'm going to be riding in RAF colours (am raising money for charity at the same time as having some fun at the event) so should be easy to spot lol!

Bong, I'll let you know when I'm racing, would be good to have some support at the races especially as this will be my first season of racing! I'll be in the senior cat too.

I've got my licence mostly for the insurance and personal accident cover to be honest!

Lol will do, although I doubt I'll be able to take many during the actual event itself! I'll hopefully have some friends coming in support so I'll make one of them cameraperson!

Nope, just checked the website and the only categories that need a licence are Juveniles, Expert and Elite.

This is really cheeky I know but I will be racing in the Fort Bill DH Enduro for charity so if any of you guys feel like sponsoring me it would be greatefully received! You can donate by clicking the link www.justgiving.com/downhillchris.

Thanks either way guys!
