Those of a nervous disposition or with sensitive stomachs should proberly look away now.

Introducing the Commencal Frankenbike.

Built quite literally with bits that were lying around.

The front end is a warranty issue 08 Meta 5.2.

The rear end of one of the imfamous 08 "my rear wheel is going in a different direction to the front end" pre-production jobbies. The wheel almost follows the front end. Almost.

The linkages are from the warranty remains of an 05 Meta 4 frame, Shams first one I think (cheers Sham) and the shock is an interesting mix of an RP2 and a DHX. Not entirely sure if the ProPedal adjuster will work yet.

The chain device is the latest prototype of the soon to be released (hopefully) Gumut DRS killer.

The rest is stuff left over from previous builds or swopped with Lylo.

I rather like it. Ugly as sin, but rides like a bike, so that's a good start. Total cost is, oh about £0.00 Cheesy

your gonna spec the 666 with 888? Even if the travel is limited to 180mm the ride and geo would prob be pretty terrible, not to speak about at 200mm. A 160-170mm 888 would also be totally pointless. The "lucky"777 is prob the worst idea i've heard about in a long while to be honest

Well the way i see it if it doesnt work out ill just hang the forks up until eventully I have enough for full dh frame as for geo the bigger forks make the head angle 64 degrees. It wont be my primary build anyway as im going to only swap to it when im riding DH.

oh and Im not alone how about a meta 6 with fox40s

LOL. Some has also suggested putting a pic of it on STW then watch them spontaneously self combust.

In truth I regretted selling my 08 frame last year. I really  liked the frame. The 09 is a nice frame bit not really what I want from a five incher, so I set about getting the bits to build one together in Dec last year.

I love making bikes that are pure function over style so I like it.

so your not the only one with a bad idea?  Wink good for you eh (hehe, though that's imo though)

and the 40 can be internally rebuilt to as low as 160mm if my recollection serves me right, though it is prob set at 170 or 180 (as the fork prob builds a bit less with the double crown), so the photo doesn't really prove much anyway (and i still think it is a poor idea . why not just get a supreme?). A 666 with 200mm travel up front just seems like an awful idea and would, besides voiding the warrenty by a long shot, prob ride like... eh, not too good. Isn't it pretty decent set up with 30% sag in the rear, slightly stiffer up front and in the slackest setting (the new sleeve)? My ransom is a bit slacker, and while it is by no means a match for my judge, one can still haul ass going downhill with it in  a big way. You can prob ride it fast as hell as long as you've got some skills and it will be a lot more flickable than a dh bike. Trying to make it something it ain't prob will not help too much.

yes, the ha might be 64, but everything else will be screwed up. BB height, the leverage ratios would prob be affected in some way... and on and on. I just can't help but think that it would ride like crap.

steve, what do you prefer with the 08 compared to the 09?  sorry if you've mentioned it before
