Hi,

I've just managed to kill my V12s Cry.

Soooo.... it's time for some new ones for my 55VIP  Grin.

I've had V8s and V12s, and ,I'm ashamed to say, some Kona Jackshits (they really lived up to their name and seized solid after 2 weeks of light use on my hardtail!!!!). What next?

I quite fancy the Atomlab Aircorps. Are they worth the extremely heavy price?

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Nick

Depends on if you want light, or heavy, and if you need a wide platform (ie you've got big feet!).

Personally I've got Funn Soljams, NC17 Sudpin Pro 2's, and Azonic A-frames.
The NC17s are pretty light, Azonic A-Frames have been going for several years but aren't very light, and the Funn's were bought as a replacement for the NC17s I smashed in the Alps last year.
Main thing for me is they're all strong pedals, and nice and wide for my size 10 feet.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

I live in the country, so I'll be needing them wide for my extra toes Cheesy!

Not too fussed about weight. Would prefer a bit of a compromise ie. bit more weight for a bit more strength.

I was impressed with the NC17s, up until I smashed one (15stone of me + body armour + big back pack + lots of speed + pedal on very solid rock = smashed pedal + me OTB  Embarrassed ).
Pretty light pedal, but still nice and wide with loads of grip.

The Funns I reckon are a bit heavier, but are well regarded for being wide and strong.

5050s are apparently ok provided you don't get the basic ones.

However, they're made by crank bros.
So they'll last about 2minutes before falling apart, and rattling endlessly.

I got these ones. Not one problem with them.

Hi fly6154,

No idea!

I've always used flats, as I tend to do everything on my bike from a dh to xc, and I like the fact that I can dab down instantly when I want. I know people say that you get used to it, but I just like flats Undecided.

Incidentally a mate of mine who's been mtbing for years and years has in the last 6 mths got rid of his spuds for flats and doesn't know why it's taken him so long to do it!

I think it's just down to personal preference.

I ride with SPD  about 9 y - when i change on flats i have some problems one month get used to it but now i like flats more then SPD - they are more useful for tech trails or  freeriding like nickfry say - like the fact that I can dab down instantly when I want.

i completely back up what nick said, its all about personal preference. but if u are going from spds to flats i strongly suggest that u get decent flats and a decent set of biking shoes like 510's or shimano dx ones etc... cos if u dont u will never really like the change from the locked in feel to feet that just slip around the minute things get wet or muddy.
