I have a 2009 Meta 6 that weighs 30.4 pounds. It is built with a 36 Float and Hope/Mavic 819 etc.  I am super happy with this bike after a 5.5, Nomad, Blur, Heckler and Blur 4x as my last trail bikes. The 6 pedals the same as the 5.5, has more supple suspension, bottoms out less. The Meta's pedal much better than the Santa Cruz' (the Nomad was the worst at pedalling). The only issue with the Meta 6 I have found is that the rear end is a bit flexy and will chatter under hard cornering/slides.

"Soft, heavy & flexy they reckon."

Was the author talking about himself?

Users complain that back end is flexy so there must be some truth, don't you think? And yes, it is heavy, it has 2.2kg more than Spicy, but it is true that Spicy costs a little more.

One journos opinion.

Why mention the shock and forks when reviewing a bike? Blows through its travel? Get a better tune or more PSI. Bob with propedal? An issue for Fox not Commencal.
Now who here can honestly say they can notice flex on the swingarm? Does it really affect your ride? These guys have to find faults, they nitpick.

Full of shit springs to mind.

They're mentioning shock and forks since the review is of the bike, not just the frame. It was Commencal's decision to fit this kit on their frame and sell it as a complete bike, so it is naturally going to be reviewed as such.

I agree with you ,I used to have pedal bob but a bit more air soon sorted that and it never altered the bikes performance down hill.So setup is a major factor in the testing of a bike.I weight around 10 stone .If the tester is 14stone then with the same setup the bike would be totally diffrent for both of us.

Nothing beats a test ride, IMO the best a review can do is point you in the right direction. It either feels right to you or it doesn't - too many people let magazines tell them what to like....

I test rode a Trek Ex which is raved about in the mags and just didn't get it, felt wooden and lifeless.......tried a Meta and never looked back, loads more fun !! Grin
