Wow he was getting good airtime!

And, without being disrespectful, "the worst thing that could happen" doesn't seem so bad now! So just ride hard!

Not to be rude but "the worst thing that could happen" is still something I would avoid.
He is a very lucky man to be able to do what he does. He looks like he still has full use of his arms and complete control over his upper body. This usually is because he broke his back very low. If he had broken his back any higher, he probably wouldn't be able to do what he is doing.
Another thing to consider, which most of us wouldn't, is he may have no feeling where the sun doesn't shine!
Sorry to rant, I have broken my neck and consider myself the luckiest SOB alive as I am able to do whatever I like and have no longterm effects except for a nice scar!

Yeah thinking about it, it was a rash and stupid comment to make.
If I was 10 years younger I would stand by it, but last season I stumped my big-toe while riding and it hurt so much I went home. Pain is more serious the older I get. And breaking your back is tragic.
I have however met someone who rode wheelchair dh, he had the the whole black-humour thing going.
Personally I like me legs and singletrack is easier on two wheels.
And those wheelchairs are well expensive!
