Looking into the possiblilty of coming over to your beautiful land for a week of riding in the summer.   Only hitch is I don't know anything about the place except I spied an ad in the back of Singletrack mag for a self catering chalet near Bovec.

So I have a few questions -

a} Is this an area you would recommend for riding?

b} Where would be the nearest international airport?

c} If you've any othr ideas for riding hols in Slovenia, let me know...

I am not from that part of Slovenia, so I don't know trails from there, but I saw a lot of beautiful pictures, so in my opinion it is the right location. I think that Grgos is from that part so he will be able to tell you more. There is  bike park in Bovec. This year was marathon downhill in that park.
Also I saw a few days ago, that in Singletrack magazin they liked Ajdovščina (copy that link in your browser):

That is approximately 1-2 hours of riding with car from Bovec.
The nearest airport is probably in Slovenian capital city Ljubljana and it is called Letališče Jožeta Pučnika.

a} Is this an area you would recommend for riding?

Bovec and surrounding arrea is great for riding. As a lot of international journalist say it is hidden place of Europe. Some mix of Garda and French alps. So come and see it by yourself I am 100% shure you would come back again and again.

b} Where would be the nearest international airport?

Slovenian Airport Ljubljana as stated before and also check Trieste, Italy (even closer than Ljubljana) and Venice, Italy, depends on cheeap flights from your airport (Easy Jet destination is Venice I belive)

Cheers guys, looking into all your suggestions.   Flights look like main stumbling block at the moment however.   Scottish airports don't seem to have biggest choice of flights to your neck of the woods unfortunately.  But will keep looking...
