Might as well kick off a bit of a discussion on the '08 bikes seeing its probably the biggest thing thats going to happen for the next while...

Was just taking a look at the full sussers that Steve posted up in the RC site.  Intrigued to see the 5.2 comes in two versions, one of which is fully XT.  I quite like the sound of this, its a nice idea.  Whether or not I would actually pay £200 extra for it though I dont know.  I really like the SRAM gearset on mine as it is, if it broke I would replace with SRAM again.  The XT brakes are super, and are what I use but at the same time the standard 5.2 now comes with Juicy 5's and 180 on the front so thats pretty good.  The main benefit I can see is the XT hubs.  Ive never had any problems with my Commencal branded hubs, but they arent that old and I know there are a few mumblings that they are... well... a bit crap.  I thought they were doing away with them but on the standard 5.2 I dont know if its really any better.  Theyve put Deore on the back which I found to be useless in the past and still a Commencal hub on the front.  For this reason I guess if I had the chance to buy a 5.2 again, I would go for the XT version.  The jury is still out on the paint job, I really like the look of the '07, but they will probably look a lot better in the flesh/metal.  Wish could get a chance to ride the 07 & 08 back to back Smiley

What does everyone think of the new rear "triangle" replacement arm?

new meta swing arm certainly looks better. Thing I don't get is why they've made the meta less xc and more fr, won't it just compete with the supreme which is now labelled dh but really it isn't, it's fr??? Sorry to moan, I just like things to be easily catagorised!

If anything I think the Meta might be a bit more XC this year seeing they have made the angles a bit steeper and its meant to be lighter?  It definately doesnt have a FR tag hanging from it, although I guess it depends on your definition of FR.  To me it spells AM all over with the Meta 666 nicely fitting between the 5 and the Supreme.

Any chance of these nice PDF files ending up in a nice glossy brochure in the local bike shop (s)? Smiley

It looks as if the cable routing runs under the same place again.....Not good after all the criticism...With the frames being in black they could have rerouted the cables somewhere else couldn't they?

Love the colours though....very sexy...

The cable routes under the BB, as before, but the mech is connected to the front triangle (main frame) not the swingarm, so no need for an additional bit of cable outer, so curing that issue. Not that it was ever an issue for me!
